what's funny is that Snyder gets flack because he spends all kinds of money on overrated free agents who turn out to be crappy, and the Lerners get flack because they haven't spent any money on free agents yet.

but like you said, on to plan b.

 I don't think that's really the point of people who want them to spend,

But spending generally correlates with winning, and examples like the Rays, Marlins, etc. are fairly rare.  The payrolls of playoff teams are generally 40th percentile and higher.

QFT  But accepting this view does not help or support the argument that people want the Lerners to spend just for the hell of spending.

Just because I'm calling the Lerners out, doesn't mean I don't like the Nats.  If I didn't care so much, I wouldn't be posting.  I wouldn't be going to games, buying jerseys, etc.

Well, in that same vein, just because a good portion of this board doesn't join the three or four of you in your crusade, doesn't mean we don't care about the Nats or we are "settling in to losing ways." There are different ways to go about building a long lasting contender and we all have are opinions are what those are.

But unfortunately, the Nats are in a rut and now isn't the time for desertion, descention, and nonsense. It's time to suck it up.

I am confident everything will work out in due time. It just isn't going to happen in one big swoop.

You think with the purchase of the Pads, A.Gonz would be easier/harder/the same---- to get?

Hudson had a serious wrist injury - those are notorious for causing continued problems for a long time.  I would pass on Hudson unless he would sign cheap, which I doubt.
Works for me. I just think they might go after him.

If the Dodgers get Manny, is there really anyone else that wants Dunn?
The Cubs don't seem to be that interested.

I haven't heard of any teams vying for Hudson yet.

And there is a reason why no one is banging down the door for Hudson and Dunn's services..

Isn't it equally as narrow minded to continue to use the question of personal fandom as your only retort in a discussion because you have nothing else to add? This seems to come up a lot with you. Sounds like to me it is you that are questioning yourself, rather than anyone attacking your "fandom."

This is the second time you've accused me of that. I've never told anyone to go be a yankees fan. Tell me whose fandom I've questioned here.

But alot of that is spending to keep what you develop, and building with FA's over time when they fit- not going out and buying everyone on the market. unless your the Yankees, I really hope CC blows out his arm, Burnett realizes he's not pitching for a contract, and Teix freaks up his shoulder.

Or maybe that they really dont need them as much? We would probably benefit more than the cubs from acquiring them or anyone.

If Dunn or Hudson were that good they would have tons of suitors including teams like the Yanks and Sox.

Yea but I didn't say that, im saying that we would benefit from having them more than any other team would. We were in last place with alot of 'AAAA' caliber players on our team.

I didn't write that you've questioned anyone's fandom other than your own. Your the one who starts crying the second someone says anything about one's fandom. You sound insecure as crap.

I realize personalities don't surface well in this medium but even so your assertion is laughable. But if that makes you feel good go ahead and think that way.

not going out and buying everyone on the market.

Granted on your other points but it's not like the Nats have gone out and bought anyone on the market that was worth buying.

Danny Cabrera?

They owe a bunch of people raises due to arbitration so the payroll will be increased from what it was last year.

Oh yeah how could I forget Cabrera and Patterson.

They owe a bunch of people raises due to arbitration so the payroll will be increased from what it was last year.

So that will raise payroll. Well according to some, all some of us want is for them to spend money because we think that will magically make the team better so we should be satisfied with giving all our players from last year fat raises. We can win as long as we spend money even if it's on the same players from last year.  :?

Except I don't accuse people of being whiners because they don't agree with my opinion. Or suggest they become yankee or oriole fans because they aren't Lerner apologists. Would it make you feel better if I said the Lerners are the best owners in baseball and are not cheap but are actually the ultimate spendthrifts in all MLB?

We're on to plan C if Dunn won't sign.

I think Dunn and Hudson will available if we want to go after them. The Dodgers are still trying to get Manny and the Cubs have all but signed Bradley. I haven't heard of anyone else that is interested in Dunn. Like someone else mentioned...I would love to see us get Juan Cruz.
