If we traded Milledge I'd give up on the Nats.  We contsantly give Kearns chances when he has proved he does not deserve a starting spot.  And we'd give up one of our best young players, who put up the best numbers even after missing a month and playing CF for the first time in his career.

I really need to take some time to think and collect my thoughts before my next post.  I knew this day was coming, but from what is being reported in some blogs/media sources that we may not spend any of that "Teix money" in other areas to go along with the realization that we are going to have another 90-loss season ... ahhhh my head is going to explode.

Oh and Chris, I'm off to Modells and I was going to get you a Teix Nats jersey, but seeing how we didn't sign him, I guess I don't have to worry about a present for you.  Unless you want a Nats 2008 AAAA card collection set (featuring your favorite Nats: Langerhans, Speigner, Orr, and more!)
Damn.. I remember the days when Hammondsnats was one of the most optimistic posters on here. These are sad times in NatsLand.  :'(

Good old hammondsnats will be back once pitchers and catchers report (in only about 7 weeks).

I'd hate to see what would happen if we traded away Lannan, Balester, Zimmermann and Milledge.

Well, those guys would presumably bring value in return.

freak, let's trade one or two of them and get some Major League players. I'm tired of potential. Ask Pirates fans about it.

No question but some people get attached to our minor leaguers and would be up in arms over it.

Yeah, we know our guys better than we know theirs, but I'm not opposed to a deal that improves the team over the intermediate to long term.

There no longer minor leaguers, except for Zimmermann of course. They play in the majors. If they were to be traded, it would suck. I dont see why you cant like players and wouldnt want them to get traded but I know that wouldn't hold back anyone if we were going to get someone outstanding in return.

Look at Rauch, i was pissed we traded him, he was one of my favorites. We got EB and than traded for Willingham and Olsen, two more great players.. Definitely worth it. (plus i like willingham and olsen lol)

I'm wondering what teams offered us for Zimmermann. (That's why I posted that Bowden quote before.)

Would you trade Zimmermann for an outstanding 1b of your choice? (realistically here)

I was thinking of that, those two are definitely worth it... but Id still like to see what Zimmermann can do before we trade it away (but then again thats the risk of trading)

That's tough.  1B is a position with a lot of talent out there, but it's hard to argue against a deal like Zimmermann (and some throw-ins, possibly) for a great young 1B like Joey Votto, Adrian Gonzalez, Lars Anderson, etc.

btw, Is Gonzalez off limits? I would reallllllly love seeing him here haha. (in a non man love way, his numbers are incredible, especially for a team like the padres)

I'd never trade him for Votto. I think Zimmermann's more valuable than that. I'd trade Balester for Votto, though.

Gonzalez is amazing.  Probably as good as Teixeira if not better.

It's just speculated that he could be traded because the Padres are thought to be in somewhat of a firesale.  Idk that they'd trade a franchise player like Gonzalez, though.

If I were JimBo, I'd throw the kitchen sink at them to land Gonzalez.

Votto didn't have that good of a year, but I have a lot of (possibly blind) faith that he'll become a really good player.

Hell yes. Seeing what he can accomplish for them, he can definitely do for us and with the likes of more upcoming talent.

We're back to fantasy trades again.  :?

Seems this is the only thing that can get us through anything. A realistic race for an outstanding player came to disappoint so its back to crappy square one

I AGREE. we need to give Lastings more than a year to prove himself. trading Milledge would be a major mistake, he's still maturing. he has all of the tools to be a legend in the making. last year he showed glimpses of greatness and i think those glimpses will soon translate into consistency. i still have faith he can fulfill the initial potential he had with the Mets.

*he does need some serious work in CF though if that's going to be his permanent position.

Oh goodness, I wasn't aware that Lastings Milledge was the best position player of our time.

Glad I'm in the know, now!

Damn. I said within two weeks hammonds would be back on his crusade. Who could of guessed it would only be two hours?
