There's been a lot of VORP bashing going on here, but we haven't even seen what VORP says about Dunn vs. Teixeira. I think what some people are saying, is that Dunn is overvalued by VORP, which somehow itself must then be flawed to give too much weight to walks, etc.
The whole point of VORP is to give the "right" amount of weight to walks, runs, steals, hits, caught stealing, power, home field, etc. in order to allow comparisons between players. Comparing Dunn to Tex on a VORP basis is more direct and meaningful than all the flailing away that's been going on around the rest of the old school stats. The VORP comparisons seem quite reasonable to me, about in line like I expected they would be.
What do you think?
