This morning on XM it was said that family members of Tex were saying that geography was going to be an important factor, more than $.

Could be the O's but more likely it will be Boston. Heck, Anaheim has a better chance than us even though they are at west.

Would you rather play for the Red Sox at $20 million per year or the Nationals for $23 mil? I'd go with the team that didn't just sign Daniel Cabrera.

I don't think Boras is dealing with Bowden. When you're talking about hundreds of millions, it's usually the owner that negotiates.

Although that's so true, there's a price point in which he would come here. Like if it's 1-1.5m more we're only offering, I can see him signing with Boston or LA. But if we are offering him 3m more per year, that's 24m more, which I can't see them leaving on the table.

If I was making that much money it would be whichever geography was best for family and friends. Maybe I decide to go for the winner if the compromise isn't too great but money can't buy me love.

Remember that I picked the Skins to go 8-8.

I now predict that we lose out on Dunn and Tex after making a token effort, we field Willingham at first, and Kearns, Dukes, and Milledge in the OF, and that we lose 90+ games. This is ridiculous already. If you are ponying up 180 million, take it to 200 million and get it done, or shut up.

People in the media and in the rumor mills keep talking about this attraction to the east coast and a magnetic pull to their respective mommys and daddys in Severna Park and Atlanta but Tex and his Mrs. live in Texas during the offseason. And with the kinda money he's going to be pulling in, living in a state that doesn't have a state income tax (like Texas) is quite a draw and when either of them needs some parent bonding time, charter a private jet.

Heck, if geography was such a concern with them and with his wife being from Atlanta, you'd think the Braves would've been the perfect team to sign a long-term, home-town-discount deal with when he was there. But it was the allure of getting more money than the Braves were offering with nary a mention of geography. Now that he's on a west coast team (or just came from one) it's the east coast thing suddenly being a hot button concern. I'm confused or maybe this all makes sense to Boras.
