Now that he's on a west coast team (or just came from one) it's the east coast thing suddenly being a hot button concern.  I'm confused or maybe this all makes sense to Boras.

It could all be a part of Boras' strategy to make the Sox or Yanks or Angels pony up, who knows?

I guess so.  I'll just be glad when he signs somewhere and this fantasy of seeing us pursuing the top free agents in baseball bursts so we can resume our rightful place with the other bottom feeders in baseball foraging for castoffs and retreads.  :glug:

Ken Rosenthal reports the Angels have withdrawn their offer and are officially out of bidding - or at least, more "out" than the Red Sox were when they claimed they were "out."

it would be hysterical if it came down to the o's and nats, but it's more than likely (more than ever) that he ends up as a douchebag (cough cough, meant as a red sawx).

If both the Red Sox and the Angels have dropped out( in addition to fact that the Yankees weren't a serious player), doesn't that make the Nats the front runner to get Tex?

They're back in it. The "dropping out" was just a ploy anyways.

The Angels' departure from the Teixeira sweepstakes leaves the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles as the four teams still in the mix for the premier position player in this winter's free-agent market.

Has Boras and/or Tex gone and met with any other teams besides the Red Sox?

Says anyone with common sense. Sox are still the favorites to get Tex.

You mean peter gammons the card carrying dottering sox homer? The article from yahoo says that the sox have not talked to Boros since the announcement that they weren't a factor last thursday -- why is everyone so ready to believe the boston media on this??

Tex the doucebag, meet the Douche Sox. A marriage made in hell. Enjoy overpaying for a player you don't need asswipes. At least we'll hardly ever play against Tex.

Get used to Kearns starting every damn game, and last place in the NL East, and Jim Bowden can't negotiate his way out of a paper bag. All the extensions that he has signed have been idiotic, with the possible exception of Guzman, and his lightning in a bottle stopped working after Loaiza, Guillen, and Carrasco.

Angels are the only team to have formally withdrawn their offer. That should tell you all you need to know.

And from Tim Brown of Yahoo

Sources close to the process said Angels owner Arte Moreno concluded that Teixeira did not intend to play for the Angels and that his team was being used to drive up the price for the other interested clubs.

Also, a source said the Red Sox have not spoken to Boras since Thursday night, when Henry issued his statement.

The Nationals’ bid reportedly matched the Angels’. The Orioles reportedly were considering whether to add an eighth year to their offer.

So when the red sox president says we're "not a factor" he actually means -- what exactly?

We are also being used to drive up the price for the Sox. It appears almost a certainty that he'll end up in Boston at this point but things can change quickly.

It's a ploy to try to get Boras to lower the price. The Sox owner knows that Tex won't sign with us or Baltimore. He knows Boras/Tex will have to come back to Boston eventually.
