I have an old high school friend who has retired to Ft Myer. He said they are moving to a friend's house along with an elderly WWII vet neighbor since the house has a second story and they expect the lower levels to be flooded.
I really don't understand the logic behind staying. Is your own life worth so little? Is it really necessary to place an increased burden on first responders?
If you're on the coast absolutely get out. We stayed for Ivan and Dennis, both Cat 3's, we're about three miles from the bay and we were fine, I've a feeling a lot of people who evacuated would've been ok to stay in their own house.
