Harper is also worth a lot of money in ticket sales, tv ratings, and merchandise sales. In a lot of ways his salary is subsidized by his draw. It's time to sign him. Boras has to realize that there is some reward in taking the money now, doesn't he? There's always a chance he could go a couple more injury plagued seasons. Can't they agree somewhere in the 350-400 range? I don't know what it is like in the Washington metro area, but even here in Richmond, if you asked any kid who's played or watched a baseball game who their favorite player is, more than half would say Bryce Harper. That's huge in growing a successful franchise.
On the other hand though... if a signing is not in the cards, then go ahead and trade him. There's no way they let him play his walk year unsigned. He is never going to be worth more in a trade than he is now. If he's not going to sign now, then really it is next winter that they have to sign or trade him. So unless he's going to sign, we only have one or two more years of him. It's time for the Lerners to crap or get off the pot as far as Harper is concerned.
