I'd really like to see Martis start. We really ought to waiver-trade Perez or Redding already, and just plain put Martis in the rotation, honestly.

We have about 5 hours left to trade them, I believe.

Actually we can trade them all the way up to the end of the season. They just wouldn't be eligible to pitch in the postseason if they get dealt after tonight.

I just don't think our starters have been "that" bad.  Our relievers have been worst, and our offense has been awfull.

I'd love to see a bullpen next season of Hanrahan, Rivera, Mock, Manning, Martis, & Bergmann.

Why do people continually sell Shell short? The guy has a 2.08 ERA, compared to Rivera's 3.62 and Hanrahan's 3.50.

If you ask me, I'd choose both Shell and Mock over Hanrahan. As a closer, I have as much faith in him as I do Bergmann laying down a bunt.

I think people want to give Shell a longer look before fully buying into him.

If you want Bergmann back you obviously don't want the Nats to succeed.

How many times must we see this pathetic scene where 2 WNFF members have to go in to save their hero as Chief with cast still in hand watches idly?

I agree---an inconsistent fly-ball pitcher with so-so stuff. He screws up, the ball's over the fence.

But what do you do with him?

Trade him for a new sideline reporter.

If he is as glorious as some say, then he should be easy trade bait.

If we can get one of these sets then let's jump on it.

Then there's sportsfan, who calls Shell a bum for having one bad outing.

Will there be any more callups?
Im pretty sure teams can have 40 guys on there rosters now so there should still be spots open, the only problem would be most wouldnt get any playing time but it might help them just being up here and in a Major league stadium atmosphere and a feel for it.

If there were an injury or trade, perhaps another one.  It would be nice to see O'Connor get some recognition for being the best AAA pitcher we had this season.

Hanrahan racks up the K's like a traditional closer. If he can pull it together and keep guys off base, it will be a thing of beaurty.

Had a little boo-boo, but not too big a deal.  He could be called up if they wanted to.

Broken nose & orbital bone = little boo-boo? I'd hate to see what you consider a serious injury.  ;)

I really think BP safety for the Nats is an urgent issue. We CANNOT keep having our pitchers destroyed. Redding was lucky, poor Mike was unlucky.
