Gibson already has one at PNC park.

Let's SWIPE IT.
Saves the cost of making one of them.
We can put the savings into getting a better player,
or a new brand of beer at the stadium ball park.

I use home plate entrance frequently, it's practically deserted.

If you're ever running late for a giveaway, it's where to go.

It's Expos DNA in the Nats, but the statues are tied to geography, not baseball biology  ;)

Some sort of baseball creationism or something

How much will these statues cost, and who's paying for them?

Hmmm, good point.  We'll probably see three bronze GEICO geckoes out there.

Angelos, Boras, Cropp, Loria, Selig (and Khalil Greene to keep it light).  We can dress them up on holidays and throw rotten fruit at them.

I'm one of those people hoped the team would have gotten rights to the Senators name, but even so, thanks to the MLB denuding this team of any stars or star prospects, we never had any great players to tie us to Montreal.

Gary Carter?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Carter

Vladimir Guerrero?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vladimir_Guerrero

Andre Dawson?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_Dawson

Tim Raines?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Raines

Etc...

I'll grant you MLB stripped the cubbard bare but its hardly a history to ignore. It ain't got no home if we don't embrace it and its worth remebering.

He said "we" never had any players to tie us to Montreal.

We never had any of those players you listed.  None had or have any connection to DC whatsoever.

If someone wants to build a statue of Brad Wilkerson or Luis Ayala, I'll do this  :bang:

Exactly.  Frank maybe?  Chad?  Not much of a thread there.

Frank may be one of the best human beings and best ballplayers around, but a "Cryin' Frank" Doll is more appropriate than a statue of him holding a lineup card.

The Homestead Grays Played in the Pittsburgh Area first before playing both regions and eventually ending their franchise here in DC.   So both areas CAN have a statue.

Hmm.  Stealing as a cost cutting measure?   I know, you're being sarcastic!

It was probably funded by an arts commission.  Probably not used for chaning the brand unless its a craft beer or something.

Someday a young superstar will sign a 10-year deal worth a little over league minimum, but he'll get a gigantic statue made at his team's ballpark. That'll be his no-trade clause.

Of course we will. You'll just have to go to NY and see it in that Yankee Legends garden or whatever it is.
