Leave that to Montreal, for anyone there who still actually gives a crap.

I have a lot should I bring it next I go to the park? Play-doh is actually real cool.

Legends?  Not sure what your definition of legend is, but whatever it is, I don't think mine's the same.

Cordero was Rolaids Relief Man of the Year, because he gave everyone gas pains.

Well the statue thing is a mainstay of modern stadiums.  I know they have some outside of PNC Park and Busch Stadium III.

Detroit has a bunch sitting along an outfield wall.

Leave that to Montreal, for anyone there who still actually gives a crap.

Put bluntly, but yes. It isn't our responsibility to honor Expo players. Some people here and around DC kept the memories of the Senators and DC baseball alive for 33 years and without a team. If people really care and hold the Expos dear, they will hold down the fort in Montreal.

This is not meant as an insult in any way to Expos fans: What if we put a AAA team there. It's a start, and it worked for Denver.

The three statues are an excellent idea - Nationals Park right now has very little celebrating Washington's baseball past...all they've got is all those years marked at the approach to the Home Plate Entrance...along with an old 1924 scoreboard and a themed bar honouring the Homestead Grays - and both of those are in the club/suite sections!

The Nats need to recognise the baseball heritage here - in all-access areas of the stadium, not in club/suite sections full of toffs who are just there to socialise and probably don't give a toss about baseball anyway - and these statues (assuming they go outside one of the entrances or in some other all-access area) are a very good start, and I don't think anyone could have come up with three better players than the ones selected.

That's for Montreal to do.  That's not our history, it's theirs.  Go to Texas and you won't see a statue of Hondo.  Go to Minnesota, and you'll see no reference to Walter Johnson, and appropriately so.  Johnson had nothing to do with Minnesota, nada.

It's high time we reclaim and celebrate our own baseball history.

99% of Nats fans have never seen the markers at the home plate entrance, as it is a seldom used egress.

That's probably true - I always use the Left Field entrance myself (best access to 300's).

I use home plate entrance frequently, it's practically deserted.

I don't think I have ever used any entrance other than the outfield.  Maybe once or twice (never noticed the plaque).

If they wanted it to be prominent it would be between the Metro access and the outfield entrance

That would make all the sense in the world since I think most Nats matchgoers at least pass by that way (and the centre-field gate area is also visible from most of the seating area as well).

I note that the article linked in the lead post says they'll go 'outside Nationals Park' - but given where they put the park's other historical memorabilia (the 1924 scoreboard and whatever Grays memorabilia they may have in the Grays Bar in the Stars and Stripes Club) they'll probably put the statues in the PNC Diamond Club or put one of them in each of the three sets of suites.

We need to completely disassociate ourselves from the Expos. The Expos are a thing of the past.

The Expos are the Washington Nationals.  Get use to it.  I believe the players chosen for the statues were good picks.  As a Expos fan I think the city of Montreal should honor their star players not DC.

The team is NOW the Washington Nationals. They are not "The Team Formerly Known As The Montreal Expos". The Montreal Expos are a thing of the past. Kids will have to read about the Expos in history books. Get used to it. I don't understand why people are offended by the fact that some of us don't want any association with the expos. This is our team now. I don't believe we owe Montreal anything.

I'm one of those people hoped the team would have gotten rights to the Senators name, but even so, thanks to the MLB denuding this team of any stars or star prospects, we never had any great players to tie us to Montreal. Instead, what the Lerners got was, for all intents, an expansion team. If they want to tie the team to the DC past as opposed to Montreal, good for them.

Expo History should be honored in Montreal -- Washington/Senator/Nationals History should be honored in Washington

It's Expos DNA in the Nats, but the statues are tied to geography, not baseball biology  ;)
