As much crap as I've given him for his attitude, I have to hand it to Dukes for really stepping it up lately.  If he had played all year to this point, and started catching fire in early May instead of early June, perhaps he's our All-Star representative.  Probably too late now, though....

and tim tolman just cost us a run - amazing, Dukes on 3rd with 1 out and he doesnt score. Is Lerner watching? is Kasten watching? is anyone but us fans watching?

Would you trade Bergmann for Willis? (contract aside)

Right now, I'd trade Bergmann for a baseball card of Willis.

like if i were manny - after bergmann walks the opposing pitcher for a 2nd game in a row (to score a run to add insult to injury) i would have come out to the mound - and told him to pack his bags and demote him to A ball.

I would have sent Mike Wallace (Clubhouse Manager) out to pull him.

I can't blame Tolman for the fact that Dukes failed to go back to 3rd to tag up.

Bay has looked awful at the plate today. He is not seeing the ball well.

i would leave Bergmann in for the 8 innings - give him a complete game (giving up 16 runs) but at least our (non existant ) bullpen will get a day off

3rd base coach is supposed to tell him what to do.

but the Nationals lack FUNDAMENTALS. as much as manny said that he would emphasize fundamentals, he has failed to do so. not just with his players. his coaches and himself too. if we wouldnt get homeruns every 50 at bats or so, we would hardly ever score a run.

Both pitchers averaging right around 20 pitches an inning at this point, doesnt look like either will last past 5.

"how far is this one going"
-bob carpenter

bob the ball didn't even reach the warning track. Please get rid of Bob, Felipe, Bergmann, Wily Mo Pena all at the same time.

but dukes was stranded at 3rd because we lack any sense of fundamental baseball. the only way we score Dukes is if Milledge hits a homer.

lopez had 30 or so sb's last year, so why not try to steal and move up into scoring position?
