oh i remember one day you come to sports pub to watch some games, you sat with matt and my self. and after the game bob to hanf out with MYSELF and MATT.. you were there and I introduced you to bob. you appeared to be happy and you were giving tons of compliments to bob, (*cough kiss ass) he was very kind to you and he answered your questions. and you said i quote" oh i would love to be a play-by-play like you, i really like your work"

i dont know. im just not happy to know people are so two faced around here..

thats the last time i do something nice for person who thought was my forum friend.......

LOL and WOW  You make it sound as if you and Carpenter were doing JMad a favor by hanging out with him. I thought it was customary for most people to exchange nice greetings in casual meetings, even when what is said is almost void of meaning (like when you tell strangers that it was nice to meet them). Maybe JMad was just being polite. What if JMad had said to Bob that his work doesn't impact the way he watches the game one way or the other, would you have been pissed off about that? Maybe one of these days I'll be graced with a face to face meeting with the great Bob Carpenter.

no you have the wrong idea. you were not there. and i was not doing anybody a favor ! i was just being my self. a kind person! and i would do the same for you, since i thought (i think you still are?) you were my friend.

and i and i would have alot of respect for any person who could tell another person the truth. you can still give constructive imput and be polite and respectfull to them.  rather than sugar coat it...

perhaps im out of line, maybe? if i am sorry. but im just calling it like i see it?

if you are friends with people and adults, you can have disagreements with one another.

i know not everyone here like me, or bob, or you, or whome ever... thats fine.

i think people trash others here in the public just to jump on the band wagon at times...

(*i know ive come to this in the past and i try really hard not to do it again)

No doubt.  The criticisms of Carpenter seem over the top to me, he just isn't offensive in the least, and I think he makes games seem fun to listen to.  Not everybody's style, but I like him better than most I've heard.

Some of the criticisms of him though remind me of some of the over the top criticisms of a certain pitcher (and his supporter(s)) who goes by the initials JP........ ;)

What I really mean, is that fans ought to be allowed to have players, or broadcasters, that they like and can say good things when motivated to do so, without having the vultures attack.  It's pretty tough being a Mike Bacsik fan around here, for example.  Or a John Patterson fan.  Nobody should have to endure a pounding because they like a particular player or broadcaster or manager or whatever.

Nobody has ever been told or forced not to be a fan of a particular player or whatever else you listed. But it's also fair for anyone to make critical comments if they feel so inclined.

Of course it's fair to criticize (that's a major purpose of these forums) , but I would emphasize that the criticism itself should also be fairly rendered, and not just for the purpose of trying to piss off somebody who happens to be a fan of the player you don't like.

oh get it right.

I said I wanted to be a Radio Talkshow Guy, first off. not a "play-by-play just like you".  if you are going to quote me, then get it right, ok?

and yes, i did enjoy meeting the man. I'd enjoy meeting anyone in the Nationals organization honestly as would most any fan.

yes, he was very polite, very down to earth.  that i can respect.

and for the record, he sidestepped the only question I asked him. I asked him "What do you think of the state of Local Media coverage regarding the Nationals?"

Look, Carpenter is your best friend not mine. please don't try to make me out to be some sort of blind awe-struck, stuttering fanboy groupie just because you don't like the fact that not everything thinks he's the greatest announcer ever.  the majority of the people i've read comments from either don't like him,or don't care.  I am in the 'don't care" camp. i can live with, or live without. it likely won't affect my enjoyment of the game. he's not a bad announcer, but he isn't the end-all, be-all either.

and please don't try to say that just because I met the man once, it means i am obligated to jump to his defense whenever someone criticizes him. because I am not.

bottom line, I could live with him as the announcer, and i could live without him as the announcer. it doesn't really matter to me in his case.  your opinion is yours, mine is mine.

Yes, the double ended knife is as treacherous to the handler as it is to the victim.  Although some don't believe in the theory of evolution, there once was a tribe of cave people who preferred the double ended knife for its versatility, but alas they did not compete well against the next tribe, who was sporting new open ended breech matchlock weapons.

AND... they didn't have adequate INSURANCE, which would have ensured their survival...
