Yay fans and sponsors for funding another Lerner family accolade...

And let's not forget the award the Lerners will be giving the family accountant for the tax break.

It's like Leonsis taking credit for all the long overdue improvements at Cap One Arena that are being paid for by the District.  Scumbag owners...and Leonsis' spawn is even more difficult to stomach than he is...

Well the district wasn't going to do it on their own. Lazy bums.

I suppose, since Trash Pandas is already taken, we can be the Washington Dumpster Divers for a while longer.

we do need to swim a bit in the deep end of the pool for major adds, but the bullpen probably could use at least a couple of adds for the closer role and setup / middle inning depth.

The problem is when those middle relievers are the biggest signings of the off season

Nats called me today presumably looking to sell me tickets...told them with the way the past 3 years have gone...not sure we will be back.

She said the rebuild hasn't gone the way they wanted...I told her there was no rebuild...they haven't even been trying.

The call ended shortly thereafter without a ticket pitch...  :hysterical:

Almost as tough as those of us who pay for those tickets...

I think you were a bit unfair to the ticket rep (and she could have stuck up for the team a bit more). Things have gotten better over the last year, exciting young prospects have made their debuts, 2024 was a fun year at the ballpark with a 2011 vibe at times.

This offseason will make or break the rebuild. So far it's a disappointment but plenty of time remains.

71-91 in 2024, again.  Same crappy coaching staff, again.  Several young, midlin' hitting outfielders.  Second tier defenders at C, 2B & SS.  No pitching to speak of.  No real stars.  No spending.  No promise...

I think I let her off pretty easy, actually...

You should have told her congrats on the charity award.  But charity begins at home.

Agree with the Count. To this point, the rebuild has gone pretty well. We got at least three major league caliber players out of the Soto deal. The Nats have generated actual pitching development. Garcia managed to turn it around.

Two of the three "middlin' hitting outfielders" were in their first looks at major league pitching, and they held their own. We can expect improvement. Huge offensive breakout for CJ Abrams in the first half. Luis Garcia was in the 88th percentile in Outs Above Average at second base.  Gore, Irvin, and Parker all showed they are capable starting pitchers. Herz showed a lot of promise in the second half. Frankly, this team's infield defense and pitching was just as good as the Yankees.

I agree about spending and the coaching staff. But to say they haven't been trying is just silly at this point.

Surprised anyone in the org would dare to admit that.

"Rebuild" is just Rizzo-speak to cover for Lerner salary dumps.

Rizzo is trying. The Lerners aren't.

We've been terrible for 5 seasons now. Win totals aren't available for next year yet, but the Nats are +8000 to win the NL next year ahead of only the Marlins and Rockies. That is not a rebuild that is going well. We're getting to the point where it's no longer a rebuild and just a crappy franchise that doesn't care about winning.

Agree. You can't be a GM and half ass it.

Rebuild started at the 2021 deadline. Again, Rizzo won most of his trades and has established the ability to develop pitching. That's pretty solid considering where we started from.

So they've had 4 seasons of a rebuild and are expected to be a bottom dweller again next year? That's a bad team not a rebuild

Mini-Me said Rizzo would have the budget he needs this year...pretty amazing for him to admit they've been operating on the cheap.  Anyone heard what that budget is and how it compares to the last several seasons?  They have just been stealing money from the fans...

He also said they'd be spending on free agents "soon" before the '23 season started.
