The 11 shutouts:

Apr 5: 2 hits, 5 walks, 7 Ks, 6 LOB, 1 for 5 with RISP
May 2: 4 hits, 3 walks, 12 Ks, 6 LOB, 0 for 2 with RISP
May 14: 4 hits, 3 walks, 8 Ks, 7 LOB, 0 for 8 with RISP
May 15: 3 hits, 5 walks, 10 Ks, 9 LOB, 0 for 9 with RISP
May 21: 3 hits, 3 walks, 10 Ks, 5 LOB, 0 for 2 with RISP
May 28: 7 hits, 1 walk, 8 Ks, 3 LOB, 0 for 3 with RISP
Jun 18: 4 hits, 0 walks, 8 Ks, 2 LOB, 0 for 1 with RISP
Jun 30: 3 hits, 3 walks, 16 Ks, 7 LOB, 0 for 5 with RISP
Jul 8: 8 hits, 0 walks, 4 Ks, 7 LOB, 0 for 6 with RISP
Jul 11: 6 hits, 5 walks, 11 Ks, 13 LOB, 1 for 12 with RISP
Jul 23: 5 hits, 0 walks, 4 Ks, 5 LOB, 0 for 7 with RISP

Hard to pick a worst. Maybe June 18 against the Diamondbacks with only 4 men getting on base, though the June 30 game against the Rays only 7 got on base (there was also a HBP) and the 16 strike outs on top of that make for a pretty bad night.

Last night was also a different kind of bad, since with 3 doubles and a stolen base, the missed opportunities (and the GIDPs) make the pain a bit worse.

Golden really highlights the lack of patience at the plate and how unproductive it was last night.

Quote
By the time Vásquez exited in the seventh, he had thrown just 68 pitches (47 for strikes). Of the Nationals’ 22 plate appearances against Vásquez, 14 lasted three pitches or fewer, and 19 were four pitches or fewer. San Diego pitchers threw just 102 pitches total, and Washington managed just five hits.

... They put balls in play but weakly, often ending in flyouts or weak groundouts. They finished without a walk.

“Sometimes you’ve got to take a strike and see what’s going on,” Martinez said. “We missed a lot of pitches we should’ve hit. And that was that. We got pitches to hit. We just popped them up.”

Given the replacements of Rosario, Robles, and Senzel i'd hope this thread would have faded. Sadly it hasn't.

In honor of today, I think we all should eat a chicken dinner tonight, as in "winner, winner, chicken dinner."

You know i like my chicken fried.

Then there's a tune I grew up with:

Of course, the official video is missing the key line WTF in the chorus "psycho chicken, what the f..." They replace the WTF with a rooster call in this.

Cracker Barrel has billboards along interstates with a picture of a plate of fried chicken and the words "winner winner"

Now i'm hungry.

At least our 2024 Nationals are giving some cause for tension and excitement - waiting to see if there is any limit as to how dire it can get... ;)

And isn't there something particularly unacceptable about being shut-out in your own ballpark?... ;)
