Youtube is going to offer some new features for Sunday Ticket, including the ability to to pin up to 4 games in a single TV window, and the ability to link your NFL.com or Yahoo fantasy football team so you can see real-time stats in a window during games.

College football is a horrible product.   NFL is easily the best sports product in the world.   18 games is perfect

Hmm...not so sure. The NFL already has the shortest season in major professional sport - moving to 19 or 20 games would, IMHO, enhance the game - at the moment it always seems to be over too quickly. The AFL (Aussie Rules) expanded their season, this year, to 24 rounds - at ground attendance and TV ratings are both up, so it has been a great success. And we all know what a failure the Premier League and Champions League are with their 10 month long season...not to mention a certain MLB season number of games... ;)

The short season is part of the appeal. The more games you add, the less any particular game matters.

12 to 14.  14 to 16.  16 to 17.  None of it has managed to diminish interest.  In fact, it's grown.  Another gambling weekend also is a big factor.

Just for clarity - I don't think the NFL should go beyond 20 games; whether by design, or accident, each sport seems to (eventually) find it's sweet spot. The AFL only added one round, but all are agreed that it's just about bang-on - so much so that there is already resistance to further, potential, change when Tasmania enters the competiton, in 2027. And the EPL dropped two rounds to get the League to a more European size (from 22 to 20 clubs), but remains the most successful sports league on the planet. At the end of the day, it's the quality of the on-field product which determines interest and success, not the length of season. - I'm sure many broadcasters would love to have more PL games, as they're going to get more CL games, under the new format.

I'm beginning to think the Commies should stop drafting wide receivers with names that sound like Datsun.

So Rivera was a bad coach and bad at the draft.

The NFL's 2024 onside kick rules include the following changes:
Advance declaration: The kicking team must announce their intention to perform an onside kick in advance, giving the receiving team more time to prepare.
Fourth quarter only: Onside kicks can only be performed in the fourth quarter of a game.
Trailing teams only: Only teams that are losing can attempt an onside kick.
Different formation: Onside kicks will use a different formation, so they can't be a surprise.

Way to remove one of the most exciting plays in the game. No play is better than an unexpected and properly executed onside kick

Guessing whatever they use now...I haven't been paying attention to it, so I don't even know what that is...

Google says the kicking team 35...

But on regular kicks the players line up down the field now. So I guess you have to make a choice?  And no surprise on sides kicks?

Edit. Ok. Missed the other post. Yes taking away a surprise kick is bad. Oh well.

And I like when the team that’s leading pulls it off.

This is dumb. NFL would have been better off adopting the XFL rules of replacing the onside kick with a 4th and 25.

frankly, there are some shootout games when you grab a lead with a minute plus left where that can make sense if the receiving team isn't ready

NFL just wants more 'exciting scoring' TV - why not go the whole hog and just say ' defenders not ot move until offence is 20 yards past them, downfield'...

Chiefs finalize roster - no surprizes. Rees-Zammit (former Wales Rugby Union international) was waived. Great news on the trade front - Ju-Ju (S-S) is back! Looks like Coach Reid doesn't want a repeat of last years issues at WR. :D

Kadarius Toney has been waived - ah, Kadarius, if only you hadn't been the Chiefs 'Mr Excitement'; the tension of wondering whether it would be 'Good Kadarius', or 'Error Strewn Kadarius'...

And what do we make of the change to the ownership rules (private equity firms can now have a 10% holding in a franchise) ? I can think of a couple of Gulf states that will be getting excited... ;)

locally, a gulf sovereign wealth fun bought into the ownership of the hockey team and the basketball teams (NBA Wizards and WNBA Mystics). Capping their interest at 10% means they can't control an NFL team like they do in the Premier league. I'm guessing the owners don't object to taking their money if they want to be part of an NFL brand, but they are squeamish about ceding control. Of all the leagues and sports, the NFL may have the least opportunity to be dominated by an owner willing to spend big. Salary caps and floors as well as revenue sharing allows teams like Green Bay and KC to be major competitors and to have the New York and LA teams (and Chicago) to be  closer to also rans.
