Jacob Young started in Wilmington last year, was promoted to Harrisburg, then Rochester, then the show. He hit at every minor league level last year and not bad as a Nat at .252. He was great on the bases stealing 13 and never getting caught. The jury is still out on him for playing every day but he's a good center fielder and certainly too quick to say he won't be anything more than a 5th outfielder.
82 wRC+ at the majors. 83 in Triple A. And his statcast data indicated he was getting lucky

He got called up because the organization is devoid of talent. If anyone in that front office though Young could hold down a MLB  CF job, Robles wouldnt be here

Like I said, he jury is still out on him but based on his rise through the organization last year it's definitely too early to say he's nothing more than a 5th outfielder. This year will tell about him and a lot others. Dude knows how to hit a double and with his speed even his singles often turn into doubles.

It would of been too early to give up on Robles also based on how he started off last year. You wouldn't put all your eggs in the Robles or Young basket at this point. That's why they'll both be in spring training this year.

#Angels just DFA’d Trey Cabbage who just went 30/30 in MiLB last year

Surprised and I’d expect a team to claim him

Serious swing-and-miss concerns but flashy tools that teams can dream on

the steals look like something new to his game, but the power has been there for a while. Ks a lot.
Its a small sample size but his sprint speed was 77th percentile. That plus the new rules could explain it.

Even though I was there for a few years was never able to catch the opening day parade. Wonder if it is still on same day as the game.  Of course they whether there is usually terrible.

Looks like it is.  Findlay Market is neat to visit also and eat there.  Suspect that is hard to do on opening day.  If anyone goes the area around the Market is not good. Filled with drug addicts.  So don’t park too far away.

I liked it when the Reds opened the season.

That would be fun if the Nats had an opening day parade. Maybe have season ticket holders participate.

The year before last me, my son and grandson caught a game in Pittsburgh then went to Cincinnati for a game. Cincinnati was a blast. We found a field where I could pitch to them for some batting practice. Some shenanigans were going on where we ate breakfast and had some fun with some characters at the game. One of our best trips.

Hope you did not have the goetta for breakfast.

I had to look up what that is. It said it's popular in that part of the country. We were eating in a Denny's I think and a guy came bolting through the door with a lady behind him spraying him with pepper spray. Turns out he had a roaming eye. The waitresses got involved and it was quite the entertaining fiasco.

Nats sign Richard "Rocky" Bleier to a minor league contract. 36 yo LHRP, 3.27 career ERA. DFA'd by Boston last year.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bleieri01.shtml

he was really good until last year, so maybe he still has something left in the tank.

Time share. Meneses when not at first. Gallo and others needing a day out of the field.

Could be an opportunity for one of the NRIs - Yepez, Diaz, or Blankenhorn - to get in the mix. Depending on Riley Adams's wrist, there might be an opportunity to go with 3 catchers (Millas) and he and Ruiz could get time there.

There’s the whole building up their farm system with high draft picks for years on one side and building up through free agency while making savvy deadline trades hitting on the likes of Adolis García on the other, but why not.
