So far, so good for the kid who just graduated high school. Just protect his arm.

this kid looks good.  Good stuff, limits walks, young.  He's the kind of guy that unless his body physically can't keep going, he'll be at least a bullpen arm as a worst-case

Bullpen arm would be a massive L.  He should be a front line starter in a few years with the investment.

Best high school arm in last year's draft. He might become a top of the rotation -- one or two -- if his arm holds up.

Todd Boss at Nationals Arm Race has a huge :az: crush on the Fredericksburg rotation.

https://www.nationalsarmrace.com/?p=18561

Quote
Rotation Observations: The Low-A rotation looks awesome. Lets start with our biggest prospects: Susana gave up just 2 ER in 20 innings across 4 starts. Unfortunately, his earlier months were so bad he still has a 4.91 seasonal ERA. Point is, he was beyond lights out: 32/8 K/BB in 20 june innings. Has he finally figured it out? 2023 big-time draft prospect Travis Sykora was excellent in June: 4 starts, 2.41 ERA and 24/6 K/BB in 18ip. That’s awesome to see, since we’re so used to seeing these prep draftees suck. However, neither of these two guys were as good as Polanco and Davis last month, who put up sub 2.00 ERAs. Only Sthele continues to struggle, with an 8.00 ERA on the month and a 7.28 ERA for the season.

Next guy to get Promoted: Has to be Davis, who was the “next guy” last month too. He’s the oldest at 24, an 11th rounder with decent bonus $$ investment, and just finished off a stellar June.

Next guy to get cut/demoted: As it was last month, and the month before, Sthele.

He recaps the progress and performance of all the starters in the Nats system plus much of the bullpen every month around the 1st.

With so many pitchers getting straight at Fredericksburg it makes me wonder who the pitching coach is.

What do you mean by getting right?

They acquired two guys with monster fastballs. All they have to do is throw them near the plate and they will over match Low A

Not for sure what statement you're referring to but if you read JCA's post Susana was originally stinking up the joint. Somebody must of helped him out. As noted in the post often these youngsters don't work out. Also, two guys named Polanco and Davis are doing well down there. Whoever they are somebody is helping them. This quote from the post:

"That’s awesome to see, since we’re so used to seeing these prep draftees suck. However, neither of these two guys were as good as Polanco and Davis last month, who put up sub 2.00 ERAs."

It's not as simple as throw really hard and guys will fall at your feet.

In Susana's case at least it might have been poor minor league defense or simply poor luck that led to his horrible early season stats. His FIP has been in the low-3s or lower all year.

I don't know it seems if you have an ERA for months near 5 and then over 4 starts it goes to near 2.5 it would surprise me if the defense got that much better all of a sudden or his luck just turned. Haven't seen any of their games though.

He definitely took his game to another level in June. I'm just saying his peripherals weren't bad before then. He was still striking out a lot of guys and doing a decent job at limiting walks. I'm just looking at box scores though so there's definitely the potential for something deeper beyond his surface level peripherals that was causing his bad performance that I'm not seeing.
