Davey says he was throwing 96-98 in a live session today. 20 pitches, 14 strikes.
was he that fast before his injury?Edit - he hit 102 in the 2021 futures game, and was around 96-97 before the TJ spring 2023.
Speculating here, but sitting at 96-97 feels like a deliberate choice. Not many starters regularly throw in the triple digits and last long.
Hoping his arrival is Corbin’s goodbye
uh, Corbin has been good as of late
Unless Irvin or Parker are very bad, it'll be a vet or two pushed out of the way when Cavalli and Gray are back. Most likely Corbin will be moved. I think there's a chance that the first move is to DFA Rainey, figure he clears, then outright him to rochester. Perhaps Corbin is pushed to the bullpen as a multi-inning low leverage guy initially, and at some point, you'd expect Williams to be dealt.
Could see them pushing Parker back down to Triple A.
Would be pretty disappointing if Parker is sent down while running a FIP under 3.5. He should stay up unless there's some obvious regression over the next couple starts.
Feel like they could slow roll Cavalli's rehab. He didnt exactly have great command before surgery, and TJS ususally doesn't help with that. We could keep him down a little longer to see if Parker is developing. Could even push his MLB return to late June, and work him in somewhere to skip someone (Parker only had 123 innings last year) until the deadlineAfter the deadline, I would expect Corbin to be in the pen and Williams to be traded.
Feel like they could slow roll Cavalli's rehab.
Final line: 2.1 IP, 1H, 1BB, 5Ks, 0R. Only hit was to Abreau
