Here's the current mlb scouting report:

Part of a loaded prep shortstop group in the 2021 Draft, House went 11th overall to the Nationals and signed for an above-slot bonus of $5 million. He met the early hype at Single-A Fredericksburg in 2022, but a back injury seriously slowed him down as the summer wore on, causing him to manage only 45 games in the Carolina League. With a return to health last season, House climbed three levels from Single-A to Double-A while posting a .312/.365/.497 line with 12 homers over 88 games.

Standing in at 6-foot-4, House is built like his last name and doesn’t need to do much at the plate from a quiet load to tap into his considerable raw power from the right side. His combination of loud contact and improved lift of the ball -- leading to more line drives in particular at Double-A -- helped him hit at least .297 at each of his three stops in 2023, and that tandem should continue to translate at the higher levels, despite some chase issues with Harrisburg.

The Nats didn’t waste much time by moving House to third base in 2023 out of their belief that his range would play better there, and early reviews were promising. His arm, which helped him touch 96 mph as a high school pitcher, certainly fits the position and gives House a true defensive asset. With his back issues in the past, the Georgia native has rebuilt his stock and joins Double-A teammates Dylan Crews and James Wood as building blocks for the future of baseball in the capital.

I think they were being cautious after the '22 season. He played 41 more games and had 169 more ABs. He played about as much this year as he did the previous 2 years combined. So wearing down csn be forgiven, as well as it coinciding with being at the AAA level. Just part of the developmental process.

I con do that. It's fair to say he has not hit his ceiling yet. The end of the year is probably his floor, but overall, the power shown this year gives you a window into his future.

If he ever does make it B1G, rather than pay him, you can bet Rizzo won't hesitate to show him the door...

House’s high chase rate at Triple-A scared some evaluators, and that led to his fall off the Top 100 for now. There are still things to like about the 2021 11th overall pick. For starters, he’s only 21 years old, and he reached the Minors’ top level ahead of the curve. There’s also still plus power potential in his 6-foot-4 frame, and he’s improved as a defender at third base after starting his career at short. He’ll have to hone his approach significantly in a return to Rochester, but House has time and age on his side.

He acquires a year of service time if he's on the roster for at least 172 days. I assume they give him at least a month in AAA to see if this continues.

Season ends 9/28. That would make 172 days left on 4/7, or today. I agree he's not likely to be called up until he's raked for at least a couple of months, or if there's an injury to DeJong. DeJong is hitting a bit better for average than could be expected and is fielding well. Just a little short on pop (.240 / .296 / .400). He'll get a long leash. It's up to House to make it no longer viable.

I wonder if they think an extra 3 weeks for Crews in MLB last year might have helped his adjustment. Would have foregone a shot at RotY, but if the bottom line is development, it might affect House's call up date.
