Interesting choice of catchers today for the Nats. Gomes is pretty much Corbin's designated batterymate, and gets the bulk of starts barring other considerations, so in one sense this isn't surprising. Gomes has been hitting well too. That said, he's had 8 PAs vs. Walker, a righty, and his OPS is .500. Avila, OTOH, has had 11 PAs with an OPS of 2.156. Avila is normally the better hitter career-wise vs. righties, too, and has caught Corbin in AZ quite a bit. I suppose the bigger key here is getting the best pitching performance out of Corbin, so perhaps you trade pitching for O, but then why hit Gomes 5th? Harrison has had more success, FWIW. Bell's a problem, too, despite hitting from his better side. That 4-5 might strand some of the top of the order, who have hit Walker in the past.
Looks like the route to a win is have Corbin outduel Walker or at least match him and beat their bullpen rather than try to put up more runs.
