If you want to see the best lacrosse player in college have a completely dominant game, tune into Yale Cornell on espn+. Kirst for Cornell has a hat trick in the 1st 4 minutes. Yale's 3 regular starting defenders are all out, and the long stick mid covering can't keep up. As I am typing, he scored again.

We have a new Yokozuna in sumo.  Onosato is promoted at just 24 after winning four tournaments including the last two.  He will join Hoshoryu.

Caitlin Clark put on an absolute show against New York last night, find the highlights. Just saw then on ESPN. She's hitting 3s like Steph.

She's second career in games with at least a combined 50 points / assists, the player in 1st has played something like 500 games.

70.5 for Chestnut. Six short of his record. Second place was 46.5.

17-time champion. Greatest individual athlete ever.

I can’t fathom eating that many hot dogs. I ate six Nathan's dogs for lunch once in the late 1980s and the effects on my digestive system were rather disturbing.

A warm-up for next month's revived State Of Origin Series. Aussie Rules from a different age - lots of things that wouldn't be allowed today... ;)

17,000+ for yesterday's women's pro hockey game at Capital One Arena.

We went. Entertaining game. I didn’t care who won, just wanted to see a good game, and we got that (including a line brawl after the final horn that included a player leaving the bench). Both teams' power plays were a treat to watch after suffering through the Caps' generally lackluster approach to same all season—and neither team made a single backpass into the defensive zone while moving the puck up the ice on the power play.

The New York Sirens' fans were doing a cheer that was obviously meant to sound like a siren. It turns out they were chanting, "Let's go, Sirens. Wee woo, wee woo." But from where we were sitting, the "wee woo" part sounded like—and I recognize it would have made no sense at all for them to say this—"Limu emu." Our whole group of seven people thought it sounded like that.

The level of play was vastly improved from the two previous games we saw - in Raleigh and Minneapolis.  Passing in particular was rather crisp where in previous games the gals looked more like Mites on Ice.

Sanity returns. Highlights of today's entertaining State Of Origin game - Western Australia v Victoria. The AFL decided to revive the SOO concept to make the opening pre-season game more meaningful than the usual knock-about practise pre-season. Certainly wouldn't have had an attendance of over 58,000 for usual pre-season. The game allowed players, and fans, to get to grips with the new rule changes - primarily around last disposal in the arc and the 'Stand' rule. Traditionalists will lament the end of the centre-bounce but, on the evidence of today, it appeared to have the desired effect by making the ruck more competitive. Pre-season timing was in operation - although each quarter was notionally longer (25 as opposed to the usual 20 minutes) the clock was allowed to run continuously, rather than pausing for stoppages, so the game time is shorter (as an analogy, imagine an NFL game where the game clock was just allowed to continuously run...). Just great to see the Sherrin in play again... :woop: :woop: :woop:

Sam Ruthe ran a 3:48:88 mile at the John Thomas Terrier classic, not too shabby for a 16 year old. His time was less than a second slower than the winning time at this years Millrose Mile.
