Poor guy had to say nice things to BALCO Bonds after Mike Bacsik grooved him a batting practice pitch in SF.

Hank Aaron.

He got the covid vaccine 2 weeks ago in a well publicized effort to reassure the black community of its safety. Don't know if there is a connection as the cause of death has not been reported.

My guess is being 86 was the leading cause. Whatever it was, it's sad to hear and I hope his name coming up helps inspire kids today when they hear of how hard he worked, as well as how widely he is admired.

One thing I didn't remember about the record breaking home run by Henry is that the Dodgers LF was Billy Buckner.   He tried climbing the fence although he was not really close to it.

Never recovered from the COVID or did it just wear him out so something else got him?  At one point, he had been discharged from the ICU, but I guess he never really got out of the woods.

RIP, All Time Home Run King.

According to the front-page article in this morning's Post print edition, this makes 10 Baseball Hall of Famers deceased since this past April.

This Covid period has been absolutely brutal.

The more I look at stats and read these retrospectives, the more I think you can make a credible argument that Aaron is the best player of all time. Given his consistency.

The results and the longevity on top of the ordeals he had to overcome - no complaints from me about that statement.

He's right up there.  I mean no one was paying attention to him catching Ruth and there he was.  30-45 home runs every year.
