We get anything back or just salary cap relief?

Conditional third-round pick. Also simplifies things for the expansion draft because he is eligible.

Thanks...

Also, anyone losing their mind because Ovi is gonna be a FA, that only means we don't have to protect him but can/will still sign him...leaves a spot for someone else...

Ovi's doing a reverse Chara because he wants to play with Marchand.  But he may end up stuck on the second line with Krejci.

Rafflecopter.  Good fourth line guy who can play center or wing.

Bye bye Vrana
That seems an overpay for Mantha. Although I have not watched much Red Wing the past couple of years as they are terrible.

Salary dump?  GMBM may have his eyes set on someone else as well...though today is the deadline...

Also, don't have to protect Jake or risk losing him to Seattle...

Writing was on the wall when he got benched.

Red Wings seem to like us...

Mantha is good. He has 30 goal talent. Hes better than Vrana and he's on year 1 of a four year deal.

Its definitely some salary dump aspect, but it isnt like the Caps oofed like the Marlins did with the Yelich trade.

Gabby mentioned "Wonder what the Caps can get for him (Vrana)" on last nights postgame...

He apparently wasn't a fan...

I think they wanted his size for a matchup against the Islanders.

Stands to reason; Wilson – like size and 26

I know why GMBM did what he did but i don't like it.  And getting rid of Siegenthaler for nothing other than an 800k salary dump is annoying.  Mantha is no Erat, and next season's first round draft pick may not be all that, but still...

Rental for a 5th round pick...no harm, no foul regardless of how it works out...
