I really like this Caps team...small things some might not notice, like Orlov playing better this season, Sheary being dogged like Beagle was for us, Hags seemingly everywhere all the time, and the 2 young goalies pushing each other.

Sprong has been quite an addition...gonna hate to see him sit when Willy gets back...

So many other positives...other than those 4 for Covid...
Watched the second period.  They look good.  Defense seems much improved this year.

I know, right...Jensen mentioned the Chara factor...it may be impacting them all...

I like the way Sammy stays tight to his goal...VV strays a bit more...but certainly neither of them wanders like Holts did/does...

Impressive win...especially against a good team in the second of a back-to-back with travel in between.

Our best players were just that tonight...and Sammy was terrific...

Sprong will not sit until both Wilson and Eller are back. Since Eller's injury is -- classic hockey -- vague, no telling when that will be.

Willy had a statement game today without beating the crap out of anyone.

Still relaxing in the 3rd with a big lead. Grrrr. For most of the game, though, the Caps played tight, coherently, while the Rangers showed off their speed to no effect. Need a win on Tuesday.

Almost forgot to mention that Wilson's home run bat would play well for the Nats. Maybe the Nats should assign Kieboom to learn, from Wilson, to keep his eye on the ball?

The giving up of big leads in the 3rd was called out as the Caps' foremost liability in last week's power rankings (apparently written by Captain Obvious, but whatever).

Nice to see Sprong get a sweater tonight with Eller back.  Panik sits, which seems totally legit...

They should just bring the Phantoms up and replace the Flyers.

When the Capitals resume playing home matches with fans in the stands, those fans are going to find quite a reduced restaurant/bar presence in the neighbourhood: no more Greene Turtle, no more Bar Louie, no more Fado, and just today I stumbled across this shocker - Legal Sea Foods' 7th street location has closed for keeps. (Caps and Wizards supporters used to pack the place before matches...but when there are no Caps or Wizards to watch....) - https://www.seafoodsource.com/news/foodservice-retail/legal-permanently-closes-two-locations-moving-ahead-with-insurance-lawsuit.

[admittedly this is rather a dated story, but I really haven't been staying on top of developments in town since I started teleworking this past May]

Shameful...

5-2 23 minutes in...I've seen enough...this is garbage...

I believe Legal had also previously closed their location at Tysons II, although I think in that case it was that their lease was up and they didn’t reach a deal to renew. Do they have any locations left in the DC area?

Matchbox (now in the old Austin Grill space) appears to still be open, albeit without the spicy meatball pizza.  They still have sliders and "fire & smoke" pizza, so FWP.

The one at National Airport is currently temporarily closed but is expected to re-open (https://www.legalseafoods.com/restaurants/arlington-reagan-national-airport-190). No other locations are left in this area.

I wondered if Maltsev was related to the former Soviet great.  But apparently not. Caps look kind of sluggish.  I think the compressed schedule is catching up with them and guys need rest.

But they just had a couple of four-day breaks last month.

Passing is very sloppy tonight (so far).
