99 innings, so he's already exceeded last year.  Walks up a lot, Ks down a lot too. I'm guessing he's tired.  I would still like another 20 innings out of him.

Yep. Was hoping for MLB debut, but I will take a healthy season.

He'll get his chance next season

Maybe he gets a call for a start or two down the stretch before getting shut down? A healthy 100 inning season out of him is a huge win. He will be in the mix for the rotation next Spring Training.

At he least, Rutledge ought to replace Cory Abbot as the long relief pitcher / spot starter.

Sure would like to see him get a start in the bigs before the season ends: 5IP, 0ER, 2H, 3BB, 7Ks tonight.

It'll be interesting to see the roster juggling when Ward is back and when / if Rutledge is called up. Do they burn an option on Gore when they shut him down? Irvin? Those are the likely shut down candidates. I could also see something like Gray to the bullpen and Abbott optioned out. Willingham, too, for that matter.

Lovely. I suppose that keeps them in a 6 man rotation and La Sorsa or Willingham gets exiled again.

Pretty nice article on how the nats have improved their pitching analytics, and how it's helping Rutledge:

Left his start today in the third after taking a line drive off his foot. Looked to be in a lot of pain and couldn't put any weight on it:

Looks like a broken bone in his ankle or foot. Maybe his heel? Usually, a player can at least put some weight on the leg or ankle or foot. Bad.

Uggh.  Guy can’t catch a break.  And don’t mean that as a pun.

We should stop drafting pitchers.  Rizzo can't assess pitching talent for his life, and hasn't made a trade or draft for a starter that's worked out since getting Gio almost 13 years ago.  And that was before the org's pitchers were schooled in the ways of The Hickey Shuffle.

Any news? Starting to feel like no news is bad news at this point.
