Health is the issue. Cant get experience if you cant stay on the field.

Rutledge is the case of a right handed starter who doesnt need a change up. If this guy stays healthy, he could absolutely be a contributor to an MLB team in a year or so

He did an interview with Grant and Danny on their podcast Bustin Loose. He added a power sinker/two seamer in the AFL.

Scoreless in three of his last four outings. If he continues to have success and health, do you bump him to Double A in the middle of July?

Can you elaborate on that? I have heard people saying the same thing about De La Rosa skipping Wilmington.

There really isnt much of a difference between low A and High A. Teams want two A ball leagues to stash as much young talent.

Double A is a big jump in talent and thats where we want Rutledge to be by the end of the season. Gives him some parameters for offseason work.

23 and hasn't made it above A yet. He's certainly closing in on that description. This is the first time since 2019 he's started more than 10 games in a season.

I've never liked him as a prospect. I'll be angry if he ends up on the 40-man to protect him.

Bust, no, but he's looking more and more like a reliever.

The reason he's still in F-burg is that he's 23 and only has 36 career appearances and 128 innings. As you noted, it's hard to make much progress with that little game action. And at that age and with health and effectiveness issues, it's a legit question as to what the next direction is. Most teams would keep him in the rotation most of the way up just to get him more innings, but it's a real question if he can't stay healthy while doing that.
