Old enough to use matches.

That's rather unhelpful.

So basically, Machado is Latino, and Harper isn’t?

No because most Latinos don't end up in MS 13

I don’t think the Phillies are better than our Nats even if they have Harper. If we don’t have poor health, there’s no one that can beat us.

Holy freaking Sunshine Squad. 😂😂😂

I knew Bryce wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but how the hell can someone who played for an NL East team for 7 years willingly go to the Phillies?  Keeeeeeriste

Have fun weathering those slumps around those fans...

I will enjoy booing him multiple times per year. I hope all the fans who idolized him realize now that he obviously hated DC the whole time he was here.

To the little kid wearing the Harper Jersey with an added “?” mark on the end at the ball game, you’re the real hero. 😂😂😂

I mean, Soto for sure. Rendon probably gonna be gone after this season. Maybe sooner when we're 8 GB at the ASB

Holy freaking Sunshine Squad. 😂😂😂

Is it Sunshine to say currently the Nats have a better Bullpen, Starting Pitching, Lineup (even if they have Harper), and bench?

Rotation, sure, for now. Ask in a couple months when Stras and Corbin go to the DL

Bullpen .... no, not really. It has the potential to be better but that's all it is. Doolittle is still a huge injury risk. Trevor Rosenthal hasn't thrown a MLB inning since August of 2017. Kyle Barraclough is coming off his worst year and is a fly ball pitching coming from one of the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball. Everyone else is the same.

Lineup - If you assume that 2018 Bryce Harper is in the lineup, okay. But losing 2017 or 2015 Harper is simply impossible to overcome. The lineup lacks power, and there is no one in the lineup that opposing teams circle and say that they can't let that person beat you.

Exactly why I said health is the concern... Not the Phillies, or the Braves, or the Mets.

We have power in the lineup. Rendon, Zimmerman/Adams, Soto, Dozier.

We have 4 Hitters that are .280 and above. And 4 that are .260. That wins games.

We win the division last year if we won 9 more games. And I can assume 9 games if I wasn't missing Murphy, Zimmerman, Stras and Doolittle for months. And I believe I will have better results from Corbin and Sanchez vs. Gif and Tanner.

But yes, if we have half the team on the DL for months at a time we won't win. That applies to any team.

Enter the Dodgers! #driveupprice
It seems clear enough to me by now that Harper doesn't want to play in Philly, and certainly not for 10 years, probably not even two years; maybe one.  So I'm guessing he's asking for an opt-out after one year.  That way, he can get the "record breaking" contract he wants. It's all fake money anyway if he opts out but opting out wouldn't change the fact that he got that record breaking contract.  And I'm also guessing that the Phillies don't want to let him opt out before their window of opportunity expires - So they probably don't want an opt until after year five.  I think that's what this is all about, and it isn't going to be resolved. Harper is going to decide he really is willing to take a short term deal, say five years, to play some place where he will be happy. And I'm guessing it's going to be LA.

They will miss Harper’s power. He also created opportunities for the guys hitting in back of him. Catcher and 2B should be big improvements. Soto not likely to have as good a year. Corbin sure helps the pitching.

Yes we will miss Harper.

As you said we have improved (greatly imo) at 2B, Catcher, and quite frankly in CF as well... defensively for sure. We have a better rotation and a better bench. All that > Harper

If we stay healthy we win. If we have core players each spending months on the DL... we lose.
