Except Kimbrel is more problematic because you're 15+ million a year in the hole for a closer who is quickly fading and has had trouble throwing strikes his entire career.

No. There is nothing more infuriating to me in baseball than a reliever that walks people. I’d almost rather them give up home runs.

Kimbrel is a proven closer with World Series experience. He makes our bullpen a whole lot deeper. We should always have either him or Doo available, and hopefully both of them stay healthy and any lead entering the 8th becomes safe. If Rosenthal is back to form, then this really could be a nasty pen.

9 games, 6 saves and a WS ring. Amassing premier relievers is a good thing. He's younger than Doo who will most likely take a walk on the wild side like Bryce when he hits free agency. Unless we have a prospect coming up who can take his place.

They got a WS ring because they have a monster offense and Nathan Evoldi was off the chain. Kimbrel almost cost them that series on several occasions. If he had entered any of those games with a one run lead, he would have given it up.

Kimbrel is already losing velo on his non-moving fastball. He isn't able to control his secondary pitches. Dude is just a time bomb waiting to happen. And he's asking for 100 freaking million dollars. He wants Chapman money, except he's two years older, is right handed, and isn't as good.

Paying premiere reliever prices for non-premiere relievers is a terrible business practice. Kimbrel isn't premiere.

Rendon is a .232 hitter in the Postseason. Why would we resign him? Why is he looking for Premiere money?

Max Scherzer has a 3.73 ERA in the Postseason. Why is he considered elite? He is getting Premiere money? His play was a big reason for the Game 5 loss to Cubs.

So we should just cancel the 2019 season right? Because we don't have the players necessary to win in the Postseason right now going by your line of thinking.

I say worry about getting to the Postseason first. It would suck if we missed the Postseason because we lost our Closer again for 2 months time.

Monster offense is right. We should focus on a right fielder or 1st basemen with that $25m that some think should go to Rendon. We have Rendon's replacement in Kieboom. Rizzo has shown that picking up good, reasonably priced 2nd basemen is relatively easy. We need a replacement for Zim and a right fielder who can hit the long ball.

Because both of those guys are premiere in the regular season. Kimbrel isnt.

This team is good enough if it can stay healthy. Having Kimbrel isnt going to change that. But it will greatly limit our flexibility at the deadline when Rizzo wants to add pieces for a postseason push

I love how Keiboom has been elevated to a top 10 player in baseball.

No guarantees in free agency. What free agents are available next year?

Dozier was a nice pick up but he is a one year signing. They have same second base issue after this year. And maybe pitching when Strasburg opts our to join Bryce.

Agree.

Mike Schmidt was a career .236 postseason hitter. .690 OPS. Revoke his Hall membership.
He won 1980 World Series MVP in what was his only real productive series.

I'd imagine next year's 2B plan will depend on Garcia's development.

Don’t be so sure. Corbin has one good year and look what he got. If Strasburg has a good year teams will figure he has learned how to pitch.
