Pretty rich calling someone else a bandwagon fan that was here two years before you while you rock that Murphy avy. Talk about being a bandwagon fan.

I found your new home: https://www.purplerow.com/

I'm actually moving to NY...so I'll be seeing a lot more of our Nats at Citi Field.

Plus, I'll never be poor enough to sit in the purple row.

Next favorite Nat? Anyone but Rendon.

At least they can't both win the Cy Young.
Could trade at the deadline (the waiver deadline, so August 31) for an AL starting pitcher who ends up AL Cy Young (and had a bonus clause).  Who's on the hook for that bonus?

Pretty sure when a player gets moved, the teams either agree to a complete 'Here you go...' in which the new team owes the full amount and any bonus obligations, or the new team just picks up the league minimum and the old team is on the hook.  The second situation is usually only when it's a player that wasn't going to be playing in the majors much of any other way, which wouldn't be the case for a Cy Young candidate.

Therefore, I'd expect the new team to be on the hook.

What happens when there is a tie in the Cy Young voting?

I was thinking of a Steve Carlton/Phillies situation, early 70s, where you have the best pitcher in baseball on the worst team.  If they could have, they would have traded him at the deadline.

I'd really, really, really like us to sign Adam Warren. Reliable, multi-inning RHP who is way more of a sure thing in middle relief than the guys we have now.
Padres signed him--$2.5 million.

1972.
27-10 Win and Loss record.
Team won only 59 games.  Next year he lost 20.

we need a LHP, not a RHP.  Pickings are slim now.

Or a righty than can pitch effectively to lefties.
As others have said I believe they are done for now until the trade deadline.

reliever.  I agree they are likely done for now, but with Grace being the only reliable non-closer out of the pen, it sure would be nice to have another option.

You don’t need more than one, but given recent developments in the division, it might be nice to have...

you'd think that they'd have throw more stuff at the fan with [minor league contracts, non-roster invites, and opt outs] for a bunch of guys.

I mean, I feel like we dodged a bullet the second time around. If that trade goes through, no Daniel Murphy

Rosenthal says we are looking at Kimbrel. Would be a longer term and lesser AAV. That would be HUGE.

After the Red Sox signed Daisuke Matsuzaka, the Yankees tossed a mountain of money at Kei Igawa.   Don't be the Yankees.
