Braves September schedule:

2 vs Pirates
3 vs Red Sox
4 @ Dbacks
3 @ Giants
3 vs Nats
3 vs Cardinals
4 vs Phillies
3 @ Mets
3 @ Phillies

If Nats *do* get hot, and of course that's a big if, they've still got a shot especially if they get the key guys back soon.
If they catch the Braves not likely they also catch the phils.

Wouldn't say that's out of the question, not sure the Phillies pitching can hold up. Not to mention the Nats have 9 games left with the Phils, a lot could be decided among those games.

Then if they catch the Phils, they probably won't catch the Braves.

Stras coming back and being the Stras of last year right away is the key. And it would help if the damn pen could hold up.
Key to what? Solidfying 3rd place??

I don't get being pessimistic about sports. That's for real life. Maybe I understand that some people need a place to nag but man they can be a bummer on here.
Pessimistic is when the Nats are in the playoffs and you assume they will lose (even though you would be correct).  When they are 8 back in the loss column to one team and 7 to another on August 18, that's just being realistic.  Only 5 back in the wild card but would need collapses from several teams--losing 3 of 4 to the Cards did not help.  If they would comeback from this it would be one for the ages.

Yes, it would. We know that. We can do math, too.

He was right to assume you can't because you're calling people "pessimistic" when they're being realistic based on probability/odds.

I guess it's just logic that you suck at.

Another bad loss tonight.  They remain 7 back with 38 to play.

golden opportunity to gain ground on Braves/Phillies. Nats piss it away. No magic with this group.

Everybody loves Murph - but he can’t play 2b anymore.

Murphy was always terrible with the glove. I saw him have a similar game with the Mets a few years ago.

But now he has lost what little range he had before. I have read before that he was better at third base. He needs to play first or DH. He’s gone after this year.

The Marlins outfield last year was Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna.  Today they started guys named Ortega, Dean, and Galloway.  Seriously, WTF is going on here?????????????  They are about to win their 2nd straight series against us, when we are supposed to be desperate.

Astonishingly  bad.  When you lose a series against the Marlins, at home, in mid-August, when you're supposedly fighting for a playoff spot, and lose the final game 12-1, you are screwed.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst... this loss was bad.

I am feeling that the Nats may miss the playoffs
