Just going .500 in one-run games and the Nats would be well into the race.

It's great to have hope, but honestly, the Nats aren't going to pull this out. It's one thing to have blind faith, but false hope isn't good (Foo Fighters - Sonic Highways documentary). I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nats sneak into second place in the division though, mostly because the Nats schedule is lighter than the Phillies is until the end of the season. Phils have 7 against the Braves, 3 against the Mess, and 4 against the Rockies, where the Nats have 5 against the Fish, 4 against the Mess, and 3 against the Rockies.
I mean, I said it was a 1% chance, maybe.

I'm not trying to knock ya! I think I am more doing this to get my mind around the idea to lower the bar to reaching for 2nd place in the division is ok after such a terrible year. Still not good considering expectations, but it may help me sleep at night!

I think the Mets and Nats would both like to end the season a week early.

Ok, so it looks like the record competition will be 2011 and 2005. 3-3 to tie '05, 4-2 to beat it, 2-4 gives us one more loss than 2011.

I actually think they'll go 2-4 this week to finish 80-82.  The Rockies will be fighting for a playoff spot, and the Nats just seem worn down at this point.

A good sweep of the Marlins and the Nats will at least finish at .500 this season.

Phillies just got swept 4 games by the Rocks. We have a 3 game lead over the Phils with 3 left and we are in second place in the division. Little victories for what was a depressing season with such high expectations. Am I the only one who wants us to finish ahead of them?  If we win 1 against the Rocks we will have better than a .500 record and finish second in the division.

So unless the phillies win out then the Nats are guaranteed tofinish in 2nd place. #littlevictory to be sure but it's better than 3rd place.

Thing is, i would like the Nats to get swept. Would be good to see the Dodgers lose the division.

Eh. These games are meaningless to the Nats. But it would be nice to see the Cubs and Dodgers in the wild card game. You’ve got to admit that much.

EDIT: at the very least, I want game 163

I was just giving you crap. But I definitely don’t want another Cubs-Dodgers NLCS.

Colorado has won 7 in a row and leads the dodgers by a game. We get to play spoiler.

2nd place is wrapped up, and the Rockies have locked up a playoff spot.  I'm betting Scherzer will pitch on Sunday if the Dodgers win tomorrow.
