Terrible pitching matchups for us this weekend.  Hendricks is the type of pitcher that we always struggle with, and then we face 2 lefties in Lester and Hamels.

with our rotation, about 4 out of every 5 games are terrible pitching matchups for us.  That being said, we won games started by Rodriguez and Gio against Atlanta, and dropped the one started by Scherzer.

I like the 3 guys we have going for us this weekend.  Zimmerman has been lighting up lefties.  I think we have a good shot at winning this series.

They were in far better shape being 7 games out with 70 games to play than 5.5 with 47 games.  At the rate they're going, they'll draw even sometime in early November.  Too bad the season ends a month before then.
The Phillies have 17 games against us and the Braves over the last 6 weeks of the season.  There is going to be a whole lot of movement in the NL East in September one way or another.

Win this series against the Cubs and we're back in business.

Win this series against the Cubs and we're back in business.

We have won 10 of the last 15 (Good) but only 12 of the last 20 (not so good)

I don't think we need to beat Chi in the series. But I think we need to come back after these 7 with 4 -3 record. Then take all 3 from Miami at DC. 7-3 in those 10.

Then we got 3 against Philly @ DC
3 against Mets @ New York
3 against Philly @ Philly

August 30 is an off day. We will know on that date what are chances are.

I can't understand why so many are down and out on this season. This is an exciting time.

It's not gonna be easy, but neither was going to Texarkana and back in 28 hours

last time I checked, we have to play every remaining game on our schedule, so let's just enjoy the ride and hope for the best.  Until the magic numbers for teams ahead of us reach zero, we have a chance.

I think our goose is cooked. We just watched what a good team on paper looks like against a good team in real life. I got the feeling that the cubs and all their fans knew they were gonna win that game even when down 0-2.

That explains the empty seats at the beginning.

"Shouldn't we get to the field on time?"

"Nah. The Nats will be up for a bit and lose the lead by the 7th. We can take our time."

Phillies lose, Braves tied for first, we're 5.5 back of the division, 5.5 back of the WC.  We've fallen back behind STL and Pittsburgh.  So basically spinning our wheels.

Roark has won 4 straight with a minuscule ERA.  He went from looking at being non-tendered to being excellent overnight.

Yup, spinning indeed.  If it were still early we'd have time to catch up, but it's not early and we will fall short.  Bullpen is giving up a lot of runs.  Offense is better, but still not running on all cylinders.  The last two weeks of this season are going to be painful to watch.

We'll be 4.5 back of either the wild card or division tonight.  All the wild card leaders and NL East leaders are playing each other and have lots of games left.  Keep winning or tying series, and there will be a spot for us.  Both wild card spots are in play too.

The Dodgers found out the hard way that being up 2-0 in Coors field is actually down by a run!  I'm not sure who we were hoping for in that game.

The whole NL is a free for all.  Only 7.5 games separate the top 10 teams.  No team has any kind of comfortable division lead.  There's not a single team who can comfortably say they are a lock for postseason at all.  Everyone plays each other a lot.   It should be a fun last 45 games.

ATL manages to pull out an 8-7 win over Milwaukee, while the Phils are losing 5-0 in the 7th to the Padres.  Give Scherzer some support and he keeps the ball in the park (2 big ifs), and we can be 4.5 back in the division.

I really hope that Rizzo is happy with the decision to crapcan Kintzler and Kelley.  Two wins in Chicago blown to shreds by the bullpen.

If Rizzo doesn't make a couple waiver deals by August 30th, then is he even living in reality? Murphy is back over .300, obviously he won't move Harper (cool, we get nothing for him!), maybe Gio? But wait now he sucks, too.

Good thing we "believed in this team." Rizzo and the Lerners should get slammed for that all year.

Tim Hudson summed up this franchise perfectly back in 2014.

"Obviously they have a talented group over there, there's no question," Hudson told The Post's Barry Svrluga. "They have some great pitching. But come playoff time, talent can take you a long ways, but what do you have between your legs? That's going to take you real far. And I think we've got a group in here that really has some of that

All the talent in the world. Nothing between their legs. No winning habits or culture. On paper - they look like World Series contenders every year. Instead they have yet to win a playoff series.

It's the same group of guys with an entitled attitude listening to the Pre-Season press clippings about how good they are.

Who is our leader? Ryan Zimmerman who thinks he is better than all the rest and doesn't have to play in Spring games?

Bryce Harper who thinks he is too good to hustle out ground balls or hit a cut off man?

Anthony Rendon with that "I dont give a sh*t smirk"?

The whole team consistently making poor base running errors, lacking to drive in just one run with the bases loaded and no-outs ir the Bull Pen actually holding down a key win for once??

This is nothing new. We have no heart. No killer instinct. These guys are lazy.

Keep Scherzer, Doolittle, Eaton, Turner, Soto, Taylor, Difo, Gio, Murphy and Adams. These guys want to win. They play with their hearts on their sleeve.

Get rid of the rest of guys who have installed this loser mentality since the team moved to DC. Harper, Zimmerman, Strasburg, Madson, Rendon. The so called leaders who have done nothing their entire careers but lose and expect to be treated differently than their team mates.
