Stevenson is an outfielder.

We already went through this. Sanchez goes down when Murphy comes back. Easy.

I don't see him being sent back to the minors. He has made a case no one can argue with.

I think he's got some options left.

Soto is here to stay.  He will have slumps like all players, but his approach and maturity are extremely advanced for his age...and his talent is ridiculous.  Davey has already said Eaton will play some CF.  If he's healthy, then he can be adequate there.  The difference in what Soto and Eaton bring offensively, to me, outweighs the defense of Taylor.  Taylor can be a great late inning pinch runner then defensive sub.  Taylor can start against lefties and Eaton/Soto platooning against lefties in LF.  I like Goodwin, but I see a 4-man OF rotation of sorts developing.  I'm sure a need to play Goodwin will arrise, and Davey will get him some starts here and there.

What's also interesting is what happens at 1B when Zim returns.  A platoon with Adams makes sense with Adams mashing righties, but Zim won't be on the short-end of a strict platoon.  I'd guess Reynolds just sticks around as a RH bat, but do you have room?  To finally have too many capable guys healthy is a good problem to have.

Yea, this guy ain't goin nowhere.  He may even stop sitting against lefties.  Harper is going to stay in CF a lot and MAT will be a 4th OF.  MAT will spell Eaton from time to time and be a late inning pinch runner/defensive sub.  Great role for him.

Then you have Robles lurking...if he gets healthy this summer and tears it up in AAA, what do you do?

A 2 homerun game makes everyone forget about his defensive shortcomings.  :metal:

He's freakin 19. He has time to improve. So let's see you go out there and do what he does.

I think he projected to be a solid defensive player. Even if his defense doesn't improve, his bat plays at first.

His defensive instincts seem better than Harper's at that age.

through their first 20 games at age 19:

Soto: .344   .447   .641, 5 HRs, 11Ks, 12BBs (one intentional)
Harper: .230 .318 .419, 2HRs, 16Ks, 9BBs

It's not even close.

It's not just the great numbers.  Like I said above, the kid has a very mature/advanced approach in addition to the insane talent.  Not saying he will have the same type of career, but it reminds you of how Miguel Cabrera looked like when he first came up with the Marlins as a kid.  I'm sure like even HOF vets do, he'll have rough stretches.  But this kid is here to stay and will play basically every day.

While Miguel Cabrera is an aggressive comp, I think it's not a bad one. We will see how it pans out.

Not saying he's going to have a HOF career like Miguel!  I mean you never know, but I just mean somebody who at a very young age displays a very mature and advanced approach in addition to the talent.  Bryce came up as just a talented guy that could run into one.  Soto, if you didn't know better, you'd think he was 30 and been in the league 10 years.

I think All-Star is a stretch, but if he continues like this, i think he will be one of the favorites to get the Rookie of the Year. I know it's early...
