Yeah, Santangelo says "he looks like a closer."  I'd rather he look like Howdy Doody and perform like we wish he could.

Young. Has a chance to get better. Only closing because three other relievers are on the DL.

Sure glad that we got rid of Kintzler and Kelley at the same time that Doolittle was out and replaced them with total bums like Koda Glover when we're trying to make a run at the division.

Grade-A job by Rizzo on that front.  Getting rid of a guy with a near-sub 3.00 ERA because he threw his glove down.

Did you watch Kintzler pitch against us?  Since joining the Cubs he has a 3.38 ERA and opponents are batting .286 vs him.  He's walked 5 in 5.1 IP.

Since we traded him to Oakland, Kelley has thrown a grand total of 2.2 IP though he hasn't allowed a run in that span.

They weren't exactly dominating pitchers when we had them, and Suero has been better than either.

Kelley had a .50 aLI with the Nats. Which means he sucked in high leverage situations. His season usage was overwhelmingly in low leverage innings. As you know not all stats are equal.

Thank you.  A metric that equals the eye test which I employ almost exclusively. I’m curious what Madison’s is as quite frankly I think he is done.

They are struggling now because Doolittle and Herrera are out.  Kelley and Kintzler were not going to replace them.  Madson is a step above those guys but slipping.  He will not be back.

Dodgers have had a rough time with Jansen out (and struggling a bit when he’s been in) including a balk off last night (possibly the only thing worse than a walk off grand slam against you). The Mariners pen would be trash without Diaz. It really shouldn’t be any surprise that our bullpen sucks without Dooo, Herrera and the shell of Madson.

True, but that's do to the slugging and OPS part of it. More often than not he gets righties out more than lefties.

That's this season. His career shows a entirely different story. Until he can repeat his 2018 splits consistently, I'll trust his career numbers.

Fair enough. Should be pointed out though that he has been really good when going 2+ innings this season.

Ivy City, at City Winery, which is a really nice venue. Good beer selection today, nice music, reasonable ticket price. There is another beer festival in this neighborhood next weekend as part of DC Beer Week; I’ll post the info later ‘cause my phone is dumb.
