I think it is safe to say that the Braves have rebounded and are now the class of the division. Now, we are the ones chasing them and hoping for a WC.
Braves refuse to lose :smh:

We we're lucky to get out with one win this weekend. The Braves are just better than we are. Wild card it is.

honestly, 3 games could have gone either way, but avoiding the sweep with the extra inning win was enough for us.  Braves did what they had to do at home. they need to gain ground on the Nats when at home (cue UnderArmour and "we must protect the house"). No one leaves that series saying there's a major change in the status.

What I'm waiting for from the Braves is whether they start dealing prospects to go for the division now, rather than take this as the start of a run and only do minor tweaks over the next 2-3 months.  Sort of Mets 2015 or Nats 2012 route.

Yeah the Braves needed a 4-game sweep to create a seismic change in the standings. They didn't get it.

I'm not conceding anything yet, but we might not actually grab a hold of the division and start making real distance until August-ish, kinda like the Cubs last year who were chasing the Brewers all season. IIRC the Indians didn't get 1st until pretty late either.

You play 162 for a reason.

Considering that the lineup was missing 2/3s of the projected starters, yes.

Agree on Murphy. I just have the feeling we're not gonna see him on the field in DC this season. As for 2019, maybe he could extend his career as a DH in the AL. He'll turn 34 as next season begins. Just a shame we "wasted" the good years when he was really raking for us.

Matchups are the key.  The Braves have always had an advantage over us when they play at home and often here.  We simply do better against other teams than we do against them.  Nothing definitive can be said about who will win the division based on four games against them, because the winner will be determined by how we and they do against other teams.  So long as we stay within three or so, I believe we will overtake them.

It would have been a split if Scherzer had started. And the Nats lost a starter after 4 pitches. It’s fine.

They are the class of the division. They have been before.

So...your comment is trash.

Mets done.

Phillis could be a problem.

Braves are an irritant, but if we get our house in order they're not a problem.

I don't care about the Mets, but they should never have fired Collins...
Anyways this is awesome.
