Stanton had a slow start and Yank fans booed him unmercifully yet in the civilized confines of Nats Park not one boo for Harper has been heard when in fact he has long since passed the boo line
That's why Bryce will end up in LA.  He wants no part of the fans in NY.  Or Philly.

They can be "wild".    The press also is a different animal.     In the end, it'll be the money but LA is interesting on several levels.    It's also closer to his home town.    He'd get to see the GK more often.

He gets to play with Trout if he goes to the Angels--can be the number two guy.  Less stress.  At least until Trout goes home to Philly in 2021.   :D

I don't think he's into the "second fiddle" thing.

He wants to be the face of the franchise but in the lineup he knows he is not a number one guy.  Trout is very quiet.  He will let Bryce take charge.  In the TV ads.

I'm sad that we're at a point where Bryce is leaving and I don't even care.

I’m just tired of the angry mob. Half the stuff he does is seriously no big deal but a big part of the fan base is as nag Eating Crackers stages of animosity with him, and it’s just exhausting on both sides. On Bryce’s part, he needs to make the effort to not appear mentally checked out, and the fans need to stop the microscopic examination of every last word and gesture in anticipation of something to be pissed off over.

*For those unfamiliar with the expression, nag Eating Crackers stage is when someone irritates you so badly that you find fault in them doing even the most basic things, such as “Look at that nag over there, eating her crackers like a cracker-eating  nag.”

It’s one thing to see a player who came into baseball pegged as a future superstar (and he played like it much to our delight) leave when he reached free agency. But when he inexplicably falls off a cliff and seems helpless to improve then his departure is a little easier to accept. And is there any doubt he will eventually get back on track and when he does the crying here will be deafening.  :hysterical:

Agreed, I’ve loved Bryce as s player since he got here and I hope they can keep him a Nat for life.

Right now, Harper should be the Nats' 4th OF, since he can play all three OF positions.

Not a bad idea, he'd be a heck of a power bat off the bench when we need a run.

I hope he wants to be a Nat for life.    If he doesn't, that's OK.    He's feelin' the heat.    We have a glut in the OF.     That ain't a bad thing.    However, angry mob?     Not even close.    This is Sunday school stuff.    :)

Small sample size. But he should have been benched weeks ago.

Benched, no. But why not give the guy a few days off here and there?

I know Harper is who the fans want to see in the derby. But I’d like to see what Matt Adams could do.

Bryce has always been the most hated player in MLB. Now his own fan base has caught up! They really need to trade for Hamels so we can have those two on the bench during the long months ahead.

What is Hamels going to do? Design an ugly pair of jeans and name it "The Harper?"

I feel like we could just make Werth an assistant coach for that and save ourselves quite a bit of money and prospects.
