2. Maria could also affect the British and U.S. Virgin Islands andPuerto Rico by mid week as a dangerous major hurricane, andhurricane watches could be issued for these islands as early asSunday. Interests in these areas should monitor the progress ofMaria and follow any advice given by local officials.
Here we go again:
Trump managed to keep Juan out of the country. No way Maria comes into the country. If it were Mary, then all bet are off.
(Mindfact) Appeared to be strange weather at the Park yesterday. I seldom remember such a constant wind coming out of the SE. It actually pushed some darker/heavier clouds back to the west. In the SE distance, there were huge (high) cloud formations that almost looked tropical.
Tropical storm air. I took the dog for a walk in the woods today. Skin on my forearms was cold, but I was sweating like a dog.Sticky and cool.
I thought it was the a pre-cursor of Jose in the Atlantic at first. Got home checked the weather. It appears he's still out and south, off the Carolinas.
Not really off the Carolinas - Jose is moving east, out to sea. There is some wind here, but not any different than any other occasion. Cape Cod could be different.
The waves are great tonight off the OBX coast. The wind is refreshing - 2IPAs & I had dinner at Nags Head Pier. We had to hold on to our plates, but we were certainly not in any danger. It was a great night.
Did ya go surfin' Mathguy?
No surfing for me
Apparently, the entire Puerto Rico electric grid is knocked out. Only emergency generators at hotels, homes, etc... have power.
Son is in Yellowstone. Some of the roads are closed due to snow. Mother Nature always surprises.
yeah, there was a big storm there a few days ago, that's not at all unusual for this time of year.
With Jose weakening, Maria's track is shifting west. It's not a big threat to the east coast yet, but it bears watching over the next few days. The models had Jose pulling Maria out to sea, but Jose collapsed faster than anticipated.
Topper made some comment about when a major (4?) hurricane's eye hits PR, it always hits the states. I'd have to google the exact quote.
