I'm no fan of Matt Williams.  It's the standard decision to keep your closer if you need to save because it makes mathematical sense.  You are pretty dense in understanding those probabilities though so not surprised about your thoughts on the matter.

Ya know the truism that gets used in sports so often: "A team resembles the manager", or something along those lines, well, we're seeing that. The lack of situational awareness on this team is astounding. It's one thing when there's a talent deficiency. That's not the case here. They're playing bad baseball.

It was over a while ago, but these come from behind losses are definitely adding some style points.

Brain dead Desmond, retirement home bound Werth, disabled list hound dog Ryan Zimmerman, and Wilson "Why do I have a glove" Ramos all say hello.
Cool. The group as a whole is still playing bad baseball.

I don't understand how Storen gets so many chances. Epic choke in 2012 playoffs then he sucked for a while until he became closer again then epic choke in 2014 playoffs. Then basically ruined this season by blowing every 8th inning save possible. He has literally singlehandedly ruined 3 seasons out of 4 for us. And yet he is still on the team. I just don't understand it.

Screw standard decisions. The team is on the brink of elimination. This isn't a random game in April or May. You do whatever it takes to win the game.

If you want the clearest reason why MW should be gone like now, this is it.  Beyond even just using Janssen, to not have someone ready.  I mean...  Wow.
Two nights in a row he had no one ready. My sense of things is he doesn't listen to McCatty at all.

He was a number 10 pick by Rizzo.  Why do you think Tyler Moore still wastes a roster spot?

No explanation. Probably Rizzo's fault for hurting his feelings signing Soriano and trading for Pap

I don't understand all these people thinking that we should save Papelbon because we don't trust Janssen to close. In an extra inning situation, start with your best reliever, then go from there. You HAVE to prolong the game.

Not in a must win game.  You have to toss normal protocol out the window.  IF you are lucky enough to get to a point with the lead, you can try to piece together that last half-inning.  What's the point of saving your best pitchers if you never get the chance to use them?

September call-ups provide BP relief, we called up Solis and he didn't get in with a lefty up. He pitched Rivero who has pitched multiple innings and was on for the 4th timne in 5 days - he got away with it but it was still an awful decision. Uggla got a PH appearance with expanded rosters in a 9-inning game and Drew Storen blew the game AGAIN.

I won't waste time on Jansenn. but seriously how the hell do rizzo and MW have jobs, the level of incompetence is astounding

This.

I am sure Paps would have been ready, willing and able to pitch more than an inning if needed.
