Oh and you gotta blame the offense some for completely folding when Villanueva came in.

Exactly, "you could've had me, but you went with the dumb guy..."  >:( >:( >:(

Martinez even played for the Expos. I get angrier and angrier every day he isn't the manager.

Me too, especially seeing what Maddon has done with the Cubbies this year-Martinez has learned from the master, why did we not snatch him up the second we could????

Unless your name is Drew Storen. Or Casey Janssen. Or Mike Rizzo. Or Matt Williams. Or Ian Desmond.

I like it. Only Mets fans post in it throughout the game

Just saw the results. Why wasn't papelbon pitching the ninth?

Bottom of the 9th in a tied game on the road.... you have what a 40% chance of winning?  Bringing in Papelbon to throw a shutout inning takes that 40% to 45%?
So you guys want to bring him in there to increase our odds by 5% or so?  Then have Jansen come in when we are up in the 10th or 11th and have a 70% chance of winning and take that down to zero if he pitched like he just did?

I'm way more pissed off at our defence for continually extending innings, adding on runs, etc, while we sit one of the best in baseball on the bench.  We probably win both these last two games with Espinosa playing at 2nd, SS or 3rd and either Desmond or Escobar out of the game.

And also pissed we don't have better options in the bullpen.

There's been several pages of discussion on this. Traditionally, road teams save their closer in a tie game until a save situation arises but many on here said Paps should have pitched. MW didn't agree though.

We'll have to agree to disagree regarding Paps, but yea on the second part of your post, no clue.  No clue...

Why the hell is Desmond still playing baseball? Espinosa is better offensively and defensively yet rots on the bench most nights. What doesn't Matt Williams get? Desmond isn't good.

Well Matt Williams has shown in the past that at home he doesn't use his best pitchers in tie situations so I don't think it's a matter of being on the road.  He has some delusional belief that Casey Janssen can have a shutdown inning after blowing the game yesterday and an even more delusional belief that the Nats can follow it up by scoring the following inning to then have Papelbon come in and shut it down.

Cause Desmond hits a couple dingers and Matty gets excited.

Right?  RIGHT?  Why is Ian allowed to be a regular player-he SUCKS.  At EVERYTHING.  It's infuriating they're not playing someone who is better than him in every single way!!!

Matt Williams feels comfortable getting walked off with Casey Janssen because some dude at Elias made up a save rule in 1960-something

I know it, me either but give the boy credit-he's improved, Desi has regressed.
