Obviously I've been out of the loop but it appears Slate has a personal vendetta against Harper. Kind of irrational.

I think some people are just so negative that they're happier when they're basking in the light of negativity. It fuels them or something. Its like their oxygen/sunlight.

One of the best sports moments I've ever witnessed live. I was sitting down the 3B line and I could see him timing Fake Tough. I was thinking how great it would be if he stole home, not thinking he would actually do it.

I'm sure BiL saw the moment in slow motion and could read every movement Harper made and knew just what Harper was thinking as he timed Hamels. Harper may have even turned to BiL to get advice from him on how to get it done.

ESPN does know that earlier this year Harper broke off his engagement just a couple days before the wedding was scheduled, right?

Might there be another milestone for Harper this week?

He may face Toronto pitcher Roberto Osuna, who at 20 would be the first pitcher he's faced in the majors that's younger than he is.

(thanks to Zuckerman for that tidbit).

I was thinking when Norris got sent down that Harper might miss his chance to do that in Toronto.

No.  He has not done THIS.  The fact that they're comparing this (albeit brief) run to BABE RUTH indicates that not only has he not done THIS, but not many in the history of the game have had a run like THIS.

He won't sustain THIS because nobody ever has.

I guess Babe Ruth has.

Seriously, the dude has had two very good seasons already.

Yeah, but it took him three years to have them.

"Consistency" - the most consistently misused word in all baseball.

I'm pretty sure I would be the most consistent hitter in the history of the game if they could give me a qualifying number of PA's.  I would never break up my consistent performance with, say, a hit.

Don't sell yourself short.  You'd run into one eventually.

If I may piggy back on your question, has he faced a top quality pitcher?   Who's the best pitcher he's homered against?     Not trying to be a SA, just curious.

Toronto has a starter who's 20 and we play them next week.

If you mean Norris he is now stashed in AAA.

Yeah, but it took him three years to have them.

That makes no sense.  If he had two good years already and this is his fourth year with the club, then what can you possibly mean?

I mean his two good seasons worth of play were stretched out over 3 years for health reasons.

I wouldn't think of these things as absolute prohibitions. Very frowned upon, probably.
