Bryce asked if he checked the flags to see what the wind is doing: "I don't need wind", he replied.

As of today at 6pm eastern, Harper is:
- 3rd in the NL in average
- 1st in HRs
- 1st in RBIs
- 1st in runs
- tied for 9th in hits
- 1st in total bases
- 1st in OBP (.471 versus .438 for Goldschmidt)
- 1st in Slugging percentage (over 100 points higher than Goldschmidt)
- 1st in walks

The only other Nat who shows up in any offensive league leader category is Desmond, who's 4th in Ks.

And stop whining about balls and strikes when you're killing it. And don't go stomping back into the batters box like some petulant teenager when ordered to do so by the ump.  8)

Williams said Harper felt ill effects from the impact of bracing his wrist and forearm against the wall, but doesn't expect a problem.

Can he sit tomorrow?  Please?

He hasn't had a day off yet.  Just one day.  Taylor in RF, Moore or Robinson in LF.  He can pinch hit and walk off the game at the end.

Harper rests only when he's thrown out a game.

Or dead.  He can rest when he's dead.

It's not like we haven't heard that exact quote from Williams before only to see whoever he's talking about wind up on the DL. However, the double he hit leads me to believe that he's fine.

In all fairness, "doesn't expect a problem" usually precedes an extended DL stint.

I was just cutting through the bullcrap.

First, what the hell is "ill effects"?  Did he mean Ill FX, the name of new hip hop star that we've never heard of?

99% of major league baseball players could have done what he did today with NO EFFECTS!  He used his hand to brace himself as he was approaching a wall. He wasn't in a dead sprint because he'd just caught the ball.  It shouldn't even be a question about whether he's hurt or not, for goodness sake.  Giancarlo Stanton just did a similar thing in Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh has those awful black medal fences inside the outfield fence.  You could see Stanton using his hand to brace himself and hear it because Giancarlo is a very big man but I'll bet he doesn't have ill effects...especially considering he hit a tape measured homerun on his next at bat.

Harper's threshold for injury seems to be a lot lower than other players.  I'm glad he dumped Kay Varner because with all the heaving and panting and bending and twisting...and bracing involved, sex might actually kill him!

I think the brick walls at Wrigley Field might be a little harder than the black fence.
