*Harper's fastest trot of 2012 was 16.2 seconds.
I love these updates, by the way.

we were joking in the stands today that after his second AB, Harper was on pace for 648 Home runs, and he already had a OPS of 2.000.

Actually, after the first two ABs, his OPS was 5.000.  Now it's down to 2.500, the bum!

yeah, that's right - SLG = TB/AB, so he was at 4.000 after the first two ABs.  Thanks for correcting me.

Bonds' 1.4217 in 2004 is the best on record.  Non-PED-enhanced leader is Ruth at 1.3818 in 1920.

No worries.  I'm a big fan of OPS because it correlates so well on a team basis to runs scored, and thus seems like the best indicator of an individual's offensive value.  More importantly, I'm able to figure it out myself, unlike WAR.  (I do believe in WAR too, but it seems a little offputting bc I have to just take the internet's word for it.)

Somehow Jayson Werth ran in to the stands after he made an out and caught that ball.

Those two are so big brother little brother...very funny to watch Werth take little jabs in fun at Harper in his quotes

Werth sees himself as a mentor, I suspect that Harper sees him as a bit of a dick.

Absolutely. He and Zimmerman held him back so he didn't storm the mound and get involved in the push-"fight" during that comes game. It's fantastic to see that Harper is really learning from his teammates, rather than tolerating/ignoring them.

If you search my post history I posted about my dream being Harper as a rookie getting pegged by Cole Hamels and charging the mound.

I literally crapped my pants when Hamels hit Harper on ESPN. Was a bit sad he didn't charge the mound, oh well. By the time I wiped away the mess he stole home and repeat process.

That would have been pretty dumb on Harper's part considering it was a bang-bang play with the catcher doing exactly what he was supposed to do when blocking the plate and not hitting him on purpose at all.

There was a report that after Harper's 2nd HR on OD, he asked Chad Tracy if he should take a curtain call.  He still defers to the older guys.

Werth and Harper were on a Q&A panel together (with Moore and Garcia) at Natsfest, Werth took more shots at the pitchers than Harper.
