With this move might as well start the 2015 thread now....Redskins to hire Scot McCloughan as GMhttp://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000454845/article/scot-mccloughan-to-be-redskins-new-general-manager
I hope wanting to draft a QB is just to pique other teams' interests, I don't really like anyone coming out so far. But supposedly he's good, so I guess he gets benefit of the doubt for right now.
Drafted Russell Wilson.
His qb strategy seems to be throwing crap at a wall and hoping
Seems to be everyone's strategy with a QB. Not easy to find a franchise guy, no matter how highly touted he is coming out of college.
[...]Can't believe the Redskins actually hired a competent GM
Daniel Snyder is still the owner.I remember there were a lot of 'hopeful' comments when Bruce Allen was hired, too. If the new chap can't keep Snyder's grubby paws off player-personnel matters, like Allen couldn't, it's all in vain.
Joe Gibbs couldn't either.
Actually, from all reports, Gibbs was able to. And the team did go to the playoffs.
Gibbs provided the daddy figure that Danny seems to crave. So does Bruce. With any luck, Bruce will hold Danny's hand and let a new GM do whatever he needs to do.
or maybe Allen just made some really bad moves and it's easier to blame snyder
Indeed
Allen and Snyder granted personnel control to Shanahan, so it's really only one year that Allen was in charge of personnel.I do hope that Allen really is moving the team towards a more traditional structure.
There is one constant in the train wreck of the last 15 years. My networking training has taught me that if something constantly fails after repeated changes and attempted fixes, look for the constants and replace them.
