Gotta say. Wow. Joe Gibbs was in Danny's box two weeks ago. Maybe he talked some sense into him. And after that fiasco of a Allen presser, maybe he reached the proverbial low point...

Perhaps but this has probably been in the works for longer than a couple of weeks. I like that he is a Ron Wolf disciple. This probably give shim ties to Jon Gruden maybe?

When asked about Robert Griffin he said he doesn't know yet. I suspect Griffin's days are now numbered.

Heard on the radio he wants to draft a QB this year. RG3 is done, 2012 was great, but it's time to move on. (insert spidernat RG3 fanboi reference here)

Can't believe the Redskins actually hired a competent GM

I hope wanting to draft a QB is just to pique other teams' interests, I don't really like anyone coming out so far. But supposedly he's good, so I guess he gets benefit of the doubt for right now.

Drafted Russell Wilson.

His qb strategy seems to be throwing crap at a wall and hoping

Seems to be everyone's strategy with a QB. Not easy to find a franchise guy, no matter how highly touted he is coming out of college.

except indy- one year tank, arguably the two best QBs of their respective generations.

Also he doesn't seem to waste high draft picks seeing what will stick- his record seems to be mid rounders and free agents

Daniel Snyder is still the owner.

I remember there were a lot of 'hopeful' comments when Bruce Allen was hired, too. If the new chap can't keep Snyder's grubby paws off player-personnel matters, like Allen couldn't, it's all in vain.

Joe Gibbs couldn't either.

Joe Gibbs couldn't either.

Actually, from all reports, Gibbs was able to. And the team did go to the playoffs.

Gibbs provided the daddy figure that Danny seems to crave. So does Bruce. With any luck, Bruce will hold Danny's hand and let a new GM do whatever he needs to do.

The difference is that Gibbs had the clout to do what he wanted, Allen has to coddle Snyder

or maybe Allen just made some really bad moves and it's easier to blame snyder

I honestly think Snyder has been pretty hands-off in terms of personnel since Allen got hired, the only exception being RGIII. I just think Allen isn't a good general manager.

I blame Allen and Shanny for RGIII- snyder may have agreed, but when things looked good, you didn't hear anything about them being against it, it was only after shanny left and was trying to save his reputation that the leaks started

Allen and Snyder granted personnel control to Shanahan, so it's really only one year that Allen was in charge of personnel.

I do hope that Allen really is moving the team towards a more traditional structure.

Allen is also responsible for the personnel and scouting departments

There is one constant in the train wreck of the last 15 years.  My networking training has taught me that if something constantly fails after repeated changes and attempted fixes, look for the constants and replace them.

they were pretty terrible for the 5 years prior to snyder too, so define it right and he's the constant, but they've sucked both before and after he took over the team

so if snyder is awful and will never change, are you going to start following the ravens or just wait ~30 years until he dies to start following football again?
