:lmao:

I like how you didn't even click the artcle.

From Kilgore:

boom roasted

Yeah, the guy is totally delusional, with the hypothetical conversations in his head of how he's going to respond when Williams puts his ass at 1st on opening day.  He doesn't want to play there 60 games, try 160 Ryan, or give the money back.

Same issue as with Soriano in 2006.  So glad Williams is in charge, these guys are in for a shock come February.

Quote
"I know that from talking to him and talking to the doctors and the trainers and our rehab coordinators, his shoulder is 100 percent,” Williams said. “It needs to get a little bit stronger and that’s what he’s working on."

So is it 100% or does it need to get stronger?

You are too much man.

Zimmerman: "I think I'm still a really good third baseman, but if they want me to play a new position I've never played before, I'm happy to practice it in spring training and play there next year"

what'd you want him to do, come out and just say he should abandon his position and move to first full-time despite never playing there?

:lmao:

too much

Yeah I'm with UMD on this one.  I don't see any controversy here.

I think the bottom line is that nobody really thinks Zimmerman would ever make a controversy out of it.  Downplaying it in December and throwing a hissy fit in Spring Training are totally different things.

LOVE the sound of the daily defensive shift meetings. Williams may be a hardass and a freeswinger in his playing days, but this is a really positive development that signals some current thinking.

I wish there was a way to improve our hitting. I know a healthy Harper, Werth, and Ramos could do wonders for this offense but its still scary with the 1b slot. I hope LaRoche has a 2012 contract year.

Prediction: LaRoche will be worse than in 2012, but better than in 2013.

His projections from Steamer and OLIVER look a little light - like .245/.330/430 or so. That might be entirely due to their BABIP assumptions which look about 20 points light of his career average. If you inflate them up 20 points it gives you .265/.350/.450 which I would take and looks reasonable.

Still no lineup upgrade.  I'm telling you now, we make no moves here we can look forward to a 2013 repeat.  Better overal due to pitching and bench upgrades, but maybe low 90s in wins and not enough to best, the Braves.

Interesting series of tweets from Rosenthal summarized...

Would #Nationals trade Jordan Zimmermann? They twice have tried to extend him. Like #Rays’ Price, he has two years of club control left. So…I asked #Nationals GM Mike Rizzo, who said, “We’d certainly love to get something done with him. But like any premium guy on your team, if there is something that can’t be done, then you would think about a trade. But that’s the furthest thing from our minds.”

I'm guessing they threw an extension similar to Gio's out there and they said no.  I really hope they can work something out.
