Werth was charged with a misdemeanor for the incident, which occurred July 6, according to the file. Werth originally had a hearing scheduled for Aug. 8, but the case has been continued until Nov. 12.

with his beard and hair, you'd expect that VW bus to be painted like a tye dye mural and have all kinds of smoke coming out the windows.

He was going 105??  I'm not familiar with that area, is there any stretch of road where going 105 MPH wouldn't be considered absolutely insane???

Really?  I was thinking more on horseback wearing a cavalry hat with an arrow through it.

For what reason was he driving 105 MPH in a 55 MPH zone?

Bad algorithm.

I85. You'll be tailgated if you aren't going at least 100.

Wow that surprises me, I10 between Pensacola and Tallahassee is basically deserted but for a few towns so I'll find myself cruising at 90 a lot of times but I thought it was way too crowded up there to be going that fast.  I don't think I've ever hit 100, that just sounds nuts :smh:

There are some stretches of freeway where the speed limit is 85.

unless you're driving something like his Porshe, at 105 he almost certainly has better handling and a shorter braking distance than you do at 90 (probably than you do at the speed limit)

Oh wow you just reminded me when I drove to Waco in May I'm pretty sure there were stretches there that had the 85 mph speed limit and I'm also pretty sure I hit 100 then  :-[ I had a grandbaby to meet though so I had a good excuse :mg:

That's funny, FP made a joke on TV about Werth speeding to Baltimore when the Nats were at Camden Yards later that week.

His next court date isn't until November 12.  And his full name is Jayson Richard Gowan Werth.  Unfortunately   they don't put a lot of details out there.

I friend in Vancouver lost his license after buying a Targa 4.  I guess it's actually really hard staying under the speed limit with that many horses under the hood.

If you're convicted of exceeding 90 mph in Fairfax County, the standard penalty on top of the fine is one day in jail for every mile per hour over 90. (I do not know this from personal experience but rather from having seen enough traffic court defendants sentenced over the years.)

Werth could potentially be looking at 15 days in there, especially depending on which judge he gets.

I did once see a judge ask a cop why he hadn't charged a guy with reckless driving for doing 98 in a 55 zone. The cop said (a) the guy was on I-66 west of Fair Oaks where it's wide and smooth, (b) there was a full moon and no clouds, (c) there were no other vehicles on the road, (d) the guy was driving a brand-new Corvette, so (e) the cop felt he was not endangering himself or anyone else and just had the understandable urge to see what his new car would do. The judge said "OK." I thought that was a pretty good exercise of discretion by the cop.

But in Fairfax County, you get one day off your sentence for every one day of good behavior.

Perform well the rest of the year and avoid jail time all together.  Perform well in the postseason and WNFF will all chip in to pay his court costs

If you mean the Canadian Vancouver, it's hard to stay under the speed limit when the limit is so obscenely low.

And Canadian cops are easy to outrun because they're on horses. And they're too polite to pull you over anyway. Huzzah Canadian stereotypes!
