Unless it's convenient for me (RGIII).

Sam Huff is "retiring" from broadcasting.  Frank Herzog thinks he was really fired though.

I think Huff's problems are more dire than babbling.

Yeah he has dementia and it's obviously gotten bad over the last few years.  It's a shame the Redskins didn't put a stop to it earlier.  I know they wanted to let Sam go out on his own but to let a legend humiliate himself over the air really kept him from leaving on a graceful note.  Still, I remember the good ol days when I was growing up and my father and I would watch every game with the TV turned down and Sonny, Sam, and Frank turned on.  In their heyday, they were a great broadcast.  Now I just listen to the TV broadcast.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be number 70 for the NY Giants.    I followed his career to the 'skins and into the booth.    I was never a team ('skins) fan but did listen when he joined Sonny and Frank.    You're right, Sonny, Sam and Frank in their day were as good as the NFL had.

I'm odd in that I usually end up listening to a decent number of games on the radio,  I'm glad he's retiring,  Sonny needs to be next.  I'm glad former skins can stayed employed,  but I'd like a decent radio crew

Doc Walker should take over full time.

If that happens,  I'm finding another team to listen to

I think it should be Cooley. Not like anyone is listening to them anyway.

Just the opposite. Sam Huff was already doing Redskins radio broadcasts while Sonny Jurgensen did color commentary on CBS TV, during Sonny's first season out of football.  Sonny joined the radio team when the TV work ended.  Sam did radio broadcasts while Sonny was still playing QB for Washington.

I didn't mean "join" literally.   It was meant (in my little mind) as "teamed with".

Cooley will end up on TV.

I'm surprised he hasn't ended up on ESPN's army of ex players/coaches who serve as analysts.

I find it ironic that when talking about the political correctness of the name this article refers to Native Americans as "Indians."

Quote
Like a lesser college football program against an in-state rival with more brass, the base exists to hate the Dallas Cowboys. You’ll see grown men wearing custom NFL jerseys that read “F. Dallas.” You’ll commonly hear “I don’t care that we won three games this season because we beat the Cowboys.”

It's tough to argue with that. The Redskins have a ton of idiot fans that really enjoy pulling more against the cowboys than they do pulling for the Redskins. The old "I have two teams, the Redskins and whoever is playing Dallas" or "I don't care if we go 2-14 as long as we beat Dallas twice" mentality is a stupid leftover from the 1970's early 80's that, to me, exhibits an inferiority complex similar to the orioles fans that hate the yankees.

But to say that black DC is heavily divided between cowboys and Redskins fans is asinine. Even in the old days when some of what was said in the piece was true, Redskins fans still well outnumbered cowboys fans. The disparity is even more pronounced in today's DC. And to attribute it all to race is dumb. How the freak would that idiot explain the phenomena of fans, both black and white, in the Dallas area who were/are Redskins fans? The reality is that some people choose their team based on being a contrarian and like to go against the grain.

Worst fans in the NFL?

http://fansided.com/2013/06/23/five-worst-nfl-fan-bases-packers-redskins-jaguars-seahawks-texan/6/

Here in DC!
Honestly, to say Redskins fans are among the worst in the NFL is pretty ludicrous.  For all the crap we've dealt with since Gibbs's first retirement and the fact that the vast majority of the fans are still loyal and still go to games, I think it's an insane thing to say.  We may be gluttons for punishment but we're definitely good, loyal fans.
