Yeah.    I think there's more awareness of long team earnings.   In the old days, players weren't making several hundred thousand dollars as rookies.    IE  ...  I'm comin' out.     They've been divas since middle school.

I didn't think of that angle but your take is well received. I was thinking also along the lines that players, in general, aren't as tough as they used to be.

Bears take advantage of the lions loss today.

I edited my post to take out the "tough" aspect.    Didn't wanna get firebombed.    :)

I'm guessing that for a lot of players,  number one priority is not getting cut and number two is the next contract.  Toughness and long term health need to be balanced.

Gettin' to be bad as baseball.   I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was always like that.    It seems like a fad (like the stick on "Support the Troops" things).       I don't remember this crap when I ETS'd in '71.

Never cared for Alabama.    Not a fan of the Browns when he played there.   Ratbirds don't even rate hate but I'm an Ozzie Newsome fan.    Hope he's well.

No one paid attention to the clock that was being operated by the panthers clock operators. After the go ahead TD by Ginn at least 3 seconds ran off the clock and it wasn't addressed by the refs. During the patriots drive they lost another second or two after incomplete passes. This may have given them one more play. I've never heard of a pass interference being nullified because the pass was intercepted. The patriots cost themselves though. Ridley's fumble really hurt because it took away at least 3 point and they could've kicked a field goal to win the game on the last drive. Also, Mankin's stupid personal foul cost them a shot to score a TD and had to settle for 3.

Same here, not a Pats fan but that was at a minimum a hold.    How do you pick that up?    Then, the hack from the NFL tries to justify it.

gronkowski needs to either fall down on the contact or make a harder cut / push back towards the throw so the uncatchable becomes moot.  As Spider says, NE had chances not to leave the call in the official's hands.

He did make a move back to the ball but was held and pushed away toward the endline.    He didn't have a chance to plant and come back.    Sometimes, those blown and non-calls are chances as well.    Not all chances occur in the first 59 minutes.    Doesn't matter whether they won or lost, they got hosed on that call.

It makes it even worse that they tried to justify it by insisting that after reviewing the play it was the correct call. I wonder if they would admit the review of the personal foul penalty that cost the 49ers the game in NO showed that it was the wrong call. Plus, the ex official that works for ESPN said it was the right call. They always stick up for each other.

That's the "hack" I was referring to  ...   Jerry Austin?

For the conspiracy theorists, I saw this on google:

"Austin has a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Western Carolina University and has a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.[4] He is also a retired public school administrator for thirty years.[5] Outside of officiating in the NFL, he is the coordinator of football officials for Conference USA.[5] He resides in Summerfield, North Carolina and has six children.[1]"

He's not gonna make a call that reflects poorly on the Carolina Panters.    :stir:

I really think the NFL needs to look into having independent crews run the game clocks around the league. Whoever was in charge of the clock got away with it a of couple times and almost got away with another one at the very end.
