Ah, so that's the type of stuff that happens in uncensored.
I'm too young for uncensored.

I simply don't need to go there.    I'm trying to withdraw from/avoid all the craziness.    I have other issues.     :old:

Been watching international news so I can avoid the 24/7 here in the USA.

Already there's a close to an 80 page thread just dealing with discussion in 2017.

At least there's very little poop flinging. Keeping it on topic, I could really use a vacation, preferably somewhere like Aruba. I'm assuming you do, but are there any Caribbean islands that don't require a passport? Do folks have recommendations (no cruises please - too sea sick) for which island they like? Or hell, a good place in say Florida to get much the same experience? (nice beach, relaxed pace)

I don't believe Puerto Rico requires a passport, does it? We stayed at the El Conquistador there many years ago and it was gorgeous, no clue about now though.  The U.S. Virgin Islands don't require a passport either.

Yep, they're U.S. colonies so we can come and go with only a drivers license.

It depends on where your flight connects, Jamaica is a Caribbean hub and you need a passport

Thanks for the thoughts from all. New about PI and US VI, but hadn't thought about a connecting flight. Will probably start the passport process then as I remember it taking a decent while for my daughter a few years back.

As for actual islands/locations anyone been to any they'd recommend?

For those who fly if you haven't signed up for the TSA Precheck you might want to sign up quick before they stop signing up new applicants.

Any of you ever been to the Destin/Pensacola/Panama City area?  We're looking at heading there in April for spring break and are trying to decide where to stay along the coast.

I've been meaning to do that for years but I'm always in a rush when I'm on that side of security.  Thanks for the heads up, I'll just bite the bullet & hit the downtown office.  Of course I'll probably be denied due to all the crap NSA has collected from my posts in Uncensored.

If you get a passport, St Lucia is the most relaxing place I've ever been

I spent a week in St. Lucia this January and it is lovely but it's a rather large island and the roads are typical Caribbean roads so it takes a long time to get anywhere if you want to see sights on the island. You can actually climb one of the Pitons which are the iconic triangle-shaped St. Lucia mountains. We climbed Gros Piton. It was rugged and not for the faint hearted especially at my age but I felt like $1 million when I made it to the top.

Caribbean islands are so different and it's hard to make a recommendation without more information.  If you're looking for casinos and golf courses and nightlife Saint Maarten or Saint Kitts or Barbados would fit the bill nicely. Aruba is nice but it's way down just north of South America and is a long long flight. If you're looking for quiet some of the tinier islands like Bequia would be good. Saint Barts has a reputation of being pricey but if you go in the off-season you can rent a small private Villa for not much more then you'd pay for a week at Ocean City.

And of course if you want to stay in this country nothing beats the Florida Keys in my book. Marathon is about halfway down very very quiet and laid-back with some excellent snorkeling.  And then of course there's nothing like Key West!

See for me Key West is about as un-relaxing as can be, I was so disappointed in it actually, just seemed like a beachier New Orleans but without having a lot of really good beaches.

In a previous life I worked in a Key West marina during the offseason. After a while I had no idea what day of the week it was, let alone the time.  It was light or it was dark.  It was sunny, it was raining.  Couldn't get much more specific than that.  Looking back now, that was not a bad way to live.

Oh yeah, it's beautiful.     Money may become an issue but as long as I can walk, I can rob a bank.    :couch:
