I’d like the see the nats just bar masn employees from the park if they aren’t getting anything

What are you dense? The fans would be shut out of TV broadcasts.

Aha! So there are two disputes, and this one follows because MASN stopped paying anything to the Nats last summer.

Why do DC cable subscribers need to keep subsidizing Baltimore's team?

It's enough.  Baltimore is too small for MLB.  Let the Orioles move to Charlotte or Vegas and they can take their sports network with them.

Portland, Montreal, Nashville, New Orleans, San Antonio, Vancouver, Mexico City. Plenty of options.

MASN didn't pay the O's either last summer, according to what I read.

Fees vs profit sharing. The original dispute is over fees, which is what was sent back to MLB arbitration. The new dispute is over profit sharing which is as of now going to independent arbitration.

it would be ironic if the expos ended up in DC and the Os in Montreal.  I just can't see that nice, paid-for park in Baltimore not having MLB.

That nice paid for park is aging fast and I doubt Baltimore will have the means or the money to replace it when the time comes

if it's aging fast, I don't see it. Sure it is not pnc at&t, but it has much more charm than Nats Park. In terms of revenue, it may not be optimal but the costs are low. Double use of the parking lots in an urban setting is nice.  Using the lots 81 times for baseball lets them use the lots for m&t the 10-15 times a year there's something there.

It was built in 1992- once Tropicana and the coliseum go, it’ll be one of the 10 oldest. It doesn’t have the history of Fenway Wrigley or even dodger stadium- when fake historical gets old, it’s just old

Jca was right on about the charm mismatch between the 2 parks. Theirs still has it while ours never did despite the age.

It's still in Baltimore.    I went from Cherry Blossoms to Caps playoffs to a Nats' game with little hassle in DC yesterday.    In Baltimore, you go to Hooters then the game.    That charm only gets ya so far.

In baseball circles theirs is the gold standard despite the recent issues in that crappy city.

I've been there.    When the best feature is a 100 year old warehouse  ...  well  ....     I get out of town visitors and not one has asked to even go to Baltimore.    Your visitors must be from AL cities.    :)

loudon to b'more I can see is too far, but folks do like opacy. Unless you get falling concrete, a fire, severe plumbing problems, you keep the turnstiles rolling and keep letting cash go to the bottom line.  That stadium has 25 more years. It'll outlast Angelos dad and son.

He did touch on something in the AL/NL dynamic in that this city was an AL city for eons and that’s counting the 33 years in the wilderness when so many here adopted that crappy team and its fancy new park as their own. Their tentacles are still there and you can hear it when the national anthem is sung with that stupid O chant.

The "O" thing is a bit much.   During the wilderness years ('92 Pirates; cancel WS, no baseball in DC, etc.), I tried to follow the Oreos  ...   from Memorial (80s) to OPCY.    It wasn't even the trip to Baltimore.    When Albert Belle hit town, I bailed.    Lucky me, the Nats came a few years later and it was off to the races.
